Re: Packers will pick #9
I was on the road and didn't catch BC. I liked Raji a lot when I watched him a month or so ago.
Gonna spend all day watching Maybin, Anderson, Byers, Moore, Cushing, Maualuga, Mathews, Ellison, Moala, and Mays.

Holy crap Maybin is explosive, but lined up slightly offsides on that fumble.
Really quick player though.

Shonn Greene threw his name in the draft. Probably a 2nd rounder ya think?

Re: Packers will pick #9
That Rose Bowl was loaded. Was impressed with Maybin, he was so quick off the ball. I would wet my pants if we could get either Mays, Cushing, or Maualuga. All of them can come in right way and start. That USC defense could have 10 of their 11 players drafted. Thats one of the best defenses in the history of CFB. For my 1st rounder my new draft list goes
1. Maualuga
2. Mays
3. Maybin
4. Jenkins
5. Orakpo
Ill go out on a limb and say Shonn Greene has a legit shot at being the best RB in this draft. I would take him no doubt over Moreno, I would still take Beanie over him at this point but I would not be suprised if he ends up being better than him. He has almost the exact running style to Peterson. Like he is angry at the world and takes it out on the defenders. Good speed, great vision, great power. Moreno is the bigger name but Greene is going to star for somebody. Just keep him the hell away from our division

Mays was unfingreal. Wow is he fast and he hits like a truck.
I know we need line, but I wouldn't be pissed if we drafted him either.
I like a lot of defensive players in this draft, I guess that is a good thing.

Re: Packers will pick #9
I wanna see how a lot of these guys test out. Obviously what happens on field comes first over the combine, but how the players test out certainly has it's share of importance. To survive and then possibly thrive in the NFL, just how fast and agile these kids are can matter quite a bit. Some of these guys can look quicker/faster than they really are when playing against college kids. We see it happen often where guys test poorer than expected, then they drop in the draft and it proves to be with good reason because they no longer had the superior athletic ability to thrive in the NFL vs college.
He sure would look good next to Collins, but man, we so badly need help on both lines. Seems a bit to much of a luxury pick for me at #9 given the more pressing needs in the trenches.
Maybin flashed a few times his great spreed, but he's so light and i wonder how much weight his frame can realistically put on and hold? He might have to go to a team that plays a 3-4 defense.

Ok I am definitely in favor of trading down like Baltimore did after last nights game.
Baltimore/Jacksonville trade RD1 P8 for RD1 P26 RD3 P71 RD3 P89 RD4 P125.
there is going to be some stud D guys later in the first round.

To me Maybin looks almost skinny and has the one KGB pass rush move.

Re: Packers will pick #9
Maybin looked like the guy I watched all season. Just run up field. He didn't show a single move (spin, handslap, hump) that Everette Brown showed. That said, he's so damn fast and quick. If he sticks around State, puts on about 15 lbs of muscle and works on his technique he could be the #1 pick in a year or two.
That said, I'd still be in favor of taking him because he could do all that in the NFL.
The only way I'm in favor of Mays is if the Packers address the lines in free agency. If Thompson looks at Mays or Jenkins or maybe one of the linebackers, he had been shell out for one of the top defensive linemen available in free agency. Dude is right. As it stands right now, a DB is a luxury.
While I think one of the top OL prospects would be a good move at #9 (I like Smith quite a bit), I think that's a deeper unit. I love Max Unger. Alex Mack is right there with him but doesn't come with the experience at other positions.
Frankly, I wouldn't be upset with Spitz at center, Sitton and Barbre at the guards and Colledge at right tackle going into 09. We need depth there but you don't have to draft depth in the first round. The big question is left tackle. Clifton looked bad there at times this season and I don't think we have a long term solution on the roster. If the staff thinks Clifton has one more good year in him and he can bounce back, I'd be comfortable with Chad playing out the end of his contract and taking a backup in round 3, maybe round 2 if a good prospect fell.
I think if you want to talk about the ideal situation it might be using free agency to sign Peppers. Draft McCoy or Mays in round one, and deal back into round one to land a LT or LB.

TT said in the article that i posted in the offseason thread that he is sticking to the script and will build through the draft. I would highly doubt we go after someone like Peppers. I could be wrong but it doesnt look that way

I don't think FA is a likely option, either. I just meant that would be ideal.
I think the team absolutely must add an impact lineman with their #9 pick. McCoy, Brown or Smith.

Couple Q's about brown:
Is #9 kind of a reach for him?
Did he declare?
thanks

Re: Packers will pick #9
after the Packers last losing season, Shermans last, TT signed Pickett, Manuel, and Woodson....I would be happy with a 3 player free agent class.

I think just one freeagent signing of woodson's magnitude would do wonders for the pack.
