Myth, signing starbury means basically Eddie house loses his time. Fact, We need houses 3 point shooting in the 2nd unit it is actually TA's minutes that would be cut.
The cost would be on D, Starbury has not shown he can be as good a defender as TA. The benefit would be outside shooting, better ball handeling (penetration is equal) and the possibility of headaches due to it being starbury. I am for it, I think we need to replace poseys long distance shooting in the lineup and get a little better, the lakers got better we need to as well, I don't think its apanic move becuase this year in the finals the lakers are going to put ALOT of pressure on house and we need someone better then Sam to fill Sams role from last season
TA, Baby, Sam ( expiring, released back as a coach) future 2nd (maybe Pruit) for Joe Smith
Sign Starbury
New Roster
Rondo/Starbury
Allen/House/Giddens
Pierce/Smith/Walker
KG/Powe/(Jsmith)
Perk/Powe/Free agent.
We do it, i think our odds to repeat improve.

No mention of Scal anywhere in there Spin? I guess it would be a hard sell to put him in the deal for Smith, but TA, Baby and 2nd might get it done. And at this point it just seems like Scal is here to stay unless he goes next year as expiring contract.
I'd do that whole scenario. Walker or Giddens may be able to replace some of what TA brings. Overall we gain more than we lose, so it's a good move for Danny to make.

How Kerr can let Marbury go without a fight is very very disappointing to me. Yes, I know Kerr said he had zero interest in Stephan, but I wrote it off as smoke. Perhaps Kerr has made an effort for Marbury and we'll likely never hear about it.

I think you're making way too many assumptions, the first being Eddie House's necessity to the 2nd team. Marbury does everything Eddie can do and he does it better, and also does a bunch of things Eddie can't do. Tony, on the other hand, does something that neither Eddie or Marbury can do. If someone loses minutes, it'll be Eddie because Marbury makes him redundant. Personally, though, I don't think that'll be the case...to me, we'll just play all 3 (Eddie, Marbury, and Tony), using Marbury as 1/2, freeing up Eddie to do the one thing he really does well--shoot--and taking the ball-handling responsibilities from TA to open up the other, more consistent parts of his game.
The beauty of signing Marbury is that it allows TA and Eddie to play their natural roles...but the 2nd team's biggest worry is the lack of ball-movement and the lack of veteran leadership...two things Marbury isn't exactly known for providing. Yes, he's a much better point guard than Eddie or Tony, but he's still a shoot-first point guard and Doc will need to work to integrate his game into the offense (think of what Detroit went through with AI and then think of that process happening on our 2nd team in relatively limited minutes). And even if we sign him I think we'll still need veteran help at center. Marbury addresses some of our concerns on the bench, but he ALONE cannot solve them, which makes him a less than ideal signing.
Since, in my opinion, signing Marbury requires another signing to successfully shore up the 2nd unit, I think it'd be wiser to target a veteran big first (like Joe Smith) and then try to incorporate Gabe Pruitt into the backup point guard role. The lack of veteran leadership is a bigger problem than the lack of point guard (we got by with Eddie last season, no reason we can't do it again this season), plus Gabe Pruitt actually has a better chance to fill in at point guard AS A REAL POINT GUARD than does Marbury. So, to me, the more prudent avenue is to pursue a backup 5 and try to get more out of Pruitt. If we can't get a veteran backup 5, then you make the move for Marbury. But he shouldn't be our primary target at this point in the season.
The leaks are real...the news is fake.

Signing Marbury doesn't mean TA loses his minutes. Come playoff time, we will have pretty much an 8 men rotation. 5 starters + 1 pg, 1 wing, 1 big off the bench. Marbury can't be that wing off the bench since he can't guard those elite wings like Johnson, Kobe, Wade, Lebron, etc. TA can come in, do a good job defensively on those guys and give Pierce/Ray a breather. Having Marbury as the wing off the bench means that Pierce/Ray will have to guard the best wing on the other team for the whole game which means they'll have to spend a lot of energy on the defensive end and there's a high risk of at least one of them getting into foul trouble.
