Big Trade for Pacers Comming?

Indiana Pacers: The Pacers do have one big chip to cash – Jamaal Tinsley, the problem is while there are several teams that have expressed interest in Tinsley the Pacers might have to eat a contract worse than Tinsley's and that's not where the team wants to be. Toss in a 4 game losing streak and a horrid 10-21 record, the rebuilding Pacers hoped for more from this season and are facing the temptation of making a bolder bigger trade. The Pacers acknowledge that they are without their high scorer from last year in Mike Dunleavy who spent yesterday in the hospital with a nasty viral infection. His timeline for a return from knee surgery is still uncertain. As good as the Pacers have looked at times on the floor its clear they simply do not have enough horsepower to beat quality teams, hence why the club is said to be considering a bigger bolder move, especially as the trade deadline gets closer.

I wonder if Miami would do a Rassho/Daniels for Marion swap? Maybe go after Boozer since the Jazz have Milsap

i think we should trade tinsley and rasho with maybe graham for marion and a 2nd pick. we are only marion for his contract which we could sign maybe a solid FA this coming summer and still have good draft picks. If we dont trade danials i sure we will pick up his option and resign jack.

Coming from a source who not only said Dunleavy was our top scorer last year, but also said he had knee surgery, makes this story hard to believe.

I would not be surprised if the Bigger Bolder move is something that we might not expect. Dunleavy, Ford, Murphy or even Foster. Rasho, Daniels, Tinsley do not seem like bigger or bolder. Those are gimme trades. I could make a case For TJ getting traded with Jack looking good, and Danny plays better with an outside shooter like jack. I could make a case for Dunleavy in that we have Rush Daniels and Granger, and we could get get quality back. I could make a case for Murphy in that he has played great this season, and a lot of teams would like to have a big man that could spread the floor while we need a post presence which we don't have. Foster would be a move in which I think we could get a younger more potential player for but I think this would be a very bold move in which the fan base would not agree with. I'm not saying I would trade any of these guys But I could see it. If in fact a Bigger Bolder move is to come.

Miami is starting to play pretty well, can't see why they'd trade Marion unless we're giving up a first round pick, which we'd be stupid to do so.

I thought about that, but being they are said to be hot after Brad Miller, they obviously want a C.

Rasho gives them a quality Center for this year and 7-8 million off the books next year and they can resign him for less, if possible. Throw in Daniels and now you get quality help for wade with another potentially expiring contract

We, however, would be assuming the biggest risk because of Marion's ability to leave via free agency

I don't think the Pacers need a trade right now, cuz we just did in the summer offseason. It takes time for the team and players to build up the chemistry, and I think the Pacers are trying to build that since we got 7 new players. It may take longer if we trade a new player now.

Of course, the Pacers are now suffering the pain of close losing game again and again. But I'd like to see it as a part of the maturing progress for the young players, such as Danny, T.J., Roy, and Brandon. They may make stupid mistakes now, but they would also learn from the experience.

What if the Pacers couldn't ended up in the playoffs? Well I think it's OK. At least we could get higher pick in the draft 2009. Maybe the 2009 draft is a little bit weak, but it still got many young kids who have plenty of potentail, like Greg Monroe from G-Town, Jordan Hill from Arizona, who I think the best fit for the Pacers at power forward.

And if we really need a big change, off the record, I think there's one proposal that would probably might work in the summer 2009:

If they cannot finish their season in the Final or the champion, they may try to do something big. They might build around Yao and trade T-mac to improve other positions. Tinsley has the better ability than Alston and Brooks to organize team and great vision to pass. Murphy and Dunleavy have steady shooting beyond the arc, which can help Yao do some damage inside. What's more, the contract of these three players will all be terminated in summer 2011, which gives them plenty of salary space if they cann't work out well.

Though T-mac is injury prone, he is a top finisher in the league. Both Danny and Brandon could learn from him if he be traded to the Pacers. And think of the new roster if we pick Jordan Hill in the draft :

A trade that I'd like is sending T.J. and J.T. w/ a 2nd to Atlanta for Mike Bibby.

I know Joe Johnson controls the ball most of the time, but the offense seems to die whenever anybody else is asked to create. Even the Pacers stymied ATL when Joe wasn't the point man. I love T.J., but Jack is better for our team (better shooter, finisher around the hoop, defender, and can move w/o the ball).

With the shooters ATL has in Johnson, Williams, Smith, and Evans on the arc, T.J.'s driving ability would be a perfect fit. Plus, he could help preserve Johnson and keep him from having to be the point man basically every time down the floor.

I think Tinsley has a home in ATL, or at least he's always training there in the summer. He and Flip would make a great backcourt off the bench, and as funny as it sounds, Tinsley has a lot of playoff experience, which ATL could use this post-season.

Bibby in Indy would be great. We run an offense similiar to the one in which he flourished in Sacto, where player movement, spot up shooting, and sharp cutting are more important than dribbling and penetration. He could be a great mentor to Jack, who has looked good in the starting role and just needs some guidance for clutch situations. His contract is up at the end of the season and it would free up more space along w/ Rasho. Plus, Bibby is one of the most underrated clutch shooters in the game, and he could tutor Danny on that subject while contributing right now as well.

wtf jack as a future point guard? get out. he's a downgrade to TJ, is only a year younger, and is half the player TJ is. TJ is the better scorer, the better shooter, and thats what counts in our system. Look how much he works on the shooting part of his game. Stats don't lie.

T.J. is not a better scorer, he's a better driver... but he can't finish around the basket like Jack (See any game from the last 4 weeks), and he's definitely not the better outside shooter. Mike Bibby is a downgrade to Tony Parker, but that doesn't mean Parker could do well in a Princeton-like offense.

For Obie's system, Jack is much better. Stats don't tell everything. T.J. averages more steals than Jack, so he's a better defender? No. Who would you rather take the final shot? Jack!

But, while we're looking at stats: Better pps and adjusted fg%... Jack, and that's w/ less mpg.

+1. There is no way I would want Jack taking the game winner over TJ. Yesterday was an exception because he had it rolling in the 4th, but he has proven to be a liability at crunch time almost the whole season ( missing game winners, crucial turnovers, 180 passes that lead to the opposition getting a break away lay up). Also I don't expect Jacks hot streak to last much longer. Probably will play good vs sacramento tonight but he will really get tested on the road trip starting monday @ denver.

I'm sorry, but anyone who says Jarrett Jack is the point guard of the future is borderline insane. He is what he is--a very solid backup point guard. He makes too many piss-poor decisions with the ball to be the full time guy at the point. Notice every time he drives to the hoop and is met by a hoarde of defenders, 3 out of 4 times he will turn the ball over. I like the way hes played lately, but a good stretch of 5 or 10 games isnt enough to take away everything he's done in his career to this point. TJ is the better of the two, and should be the starter.
