This list reminds me how much I miss Sabonis... winner in 84 85 88 95 97 99 and second in 00 and others, thats 17 years of elite level. I had so much fun watching him pass the ball.

Sabonis was still elite in 2004, after leaving the Blazers he joined Zalgiris and was MVP of the Euroleague and also was 1 free throw shy of leading his team to the final 4.

I wish we'd gotten to see him fully healthy, before the injuries, in the NBA. He was still very, very good, but his athleticism was almost nil. Some of the accounts of the young Sabonis I've read/heard are unreal.

He was unreal when young and healthy. Basketball world cried when he got severely injured. He should have been top 5 all time center, instead he will be remembered as the greatest in Europe and just a nice center in the NBA.
Kind of Bill Walton case with better outside shooting, stronger body, more size and speed...
I remember the URSS beating us (Spain) by +40 when were Olympic silver medalist in 1984. Sabonis was just plain unsttopable. He managed himself to overpower David Robinson in Seul 1988 when he couldn't even walk.
