Clippers waive Paul Davis and Fred Jones

The Los Angeles Clippers today waived forward Paul Davis and guard Fred Jones it was announced by General Manager and Head Coach Mike Dunleavy. Drafted by the Clippers in the second round of the 2006 NBA Draft (34th overall) out of Michigan State, Davis appeared in 80 games for the Clippers from 2006-2008, making two starts and averaging 2.2 points and 2.0 rebounds in his career. This season, Davis played in 27 games, averaging 4.0 points and 2.5 rebounds in 11.5 minutes per game. Jones appeared in five games with the Clippers this season after signing with Los Angeles as a free agent on Dec. 28. Jones averaged 6.6 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 19.6 minutes with the Clippers.

Wow Paul Davis and Fred Jones were doing well. this pretty much means there's going to be some kind of trade but i dont understand because the one rumor thats out there is camby for richardson and we don't need to clear space for that. hopefully this means we're trading kaman somehow for some decent players. if camby gets traded i will lose all faith i had in this team.

Clippers just acquired Samb from Denver also.

If anything, more time for DeAndre.

Down to 3 people on the bench.

You know, previous Clipper rosters didn't look this bad.

oh hey i didnt know you posted on realgm. i barely go on here. i only post here when im bored and when i read something that pisses me off.

anyways its actually not even frye that we're supposed to get. we're just supposed to get q rich from the knicks for camby which is the worst deal in the world. richardson is horrible now and hes definitely not worth camby. hopefully we get someone like bayless and maybe a first round pick if that trade goes down. i just wish dunleavy would realize theres no problem with the players, but theres a problem with the coach.

Same with me, i don't post on here very much. I don't want to trade Bayless away so soon... You can have Frye for sure though!

Wait wait wait yall are talking like the Camby/Q-Rich trade went through. We are just assuming here...right? You don't need to waive players for a swap.

yeah the only thing im happy about is that jordan will get more playing time. i had courtside seats to the clipper game against the pistons and i saw him shooting around before the game and his mid range jumper is getting much better. and then during the game he did really well in the amount of time he played. he does need to work on his rebounding a little bit though. hes tall but he needs to get stronger. he will be the starting center for the clippers in 2 years hopefully.

and yeah this roster looks horrible now with all of the injuries and it looks pretty bad without the injuries too.

yeah we're just assuming but still this might mean that we might get a little more for camby or someone else. it could just mean that we're going to make small trades (like the samb one) and sign players to 10 day contracts because apparently teams can start signing players to 10 day contracts today.

A trade has to be brewing! I kinda liked both Davis and Jones, and I'm not sure Samb is any upgrade for the bench. Why would we want Q? If we get Q you know that Dunleavy is just making desperation moves to try and prolong his job. "Wait, we're going to win with Q! Just give me three more weeks..."

Why would u guys waive Jones? He was playing pretty well, and was only going to be out for a few days.

i know im dissapointed too because he was one of two clippers, the other being eric gordon, that played his heart out every game and contributed every game during the injuries. thornton has been trying but hes been too inconsistent. camby and gordon have been consistently putting up good numbers and without camby our rebounding will be horrible. he grabs half of the teams rebounds.

but if you think about it we need to start new. at the beginning of the season i thought we could make the playoffs, then when we got randolph i thought we could improve after a slow start and i started believing that when we won 3 straight and 4 out of 5 with one close loss to the bulls, but now we should just look at the future. if dunleavy was fired earlier, we would have some hope, but now this season is over. the west is too good and the 8th seed is like 12 games ahead of us. trading camby could give more minutes for jordan so he could improve with gordon and thornton and we can look ahead to the future.

I liked Jones a lot, and I thought Dunleavy did too. But, well...here we are.
