Matchups to watch

Collins vs. Ravens' fifth-ranked pass defense: Collins isn't very mobile, and the Ravens will look to keep him in the pocket and force him to throw toward the middle of the field ... where Reed will be hovering in search of an interception. Collins had one of his more forgettable games this season in the October matchup, completing 17 of 32 passes for 163 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.
McClain and McGahee vs. Haynesworth and Co.: If the Ravens are going to have any success offensively, it's imperative that their two primary running backs have some success against the NFL's foremost run-stuffer (presuming he's healthy). Otherwise, that will put greater pressure on Flacco, who will have his hands full against the Titans' secondary.

Titans CB Cortland Finnegan vs. Ravens WR Derrick Mason: Finnegan is easily among the top cornerbacks in the NFL. He doesn't always have man-to-man coverage, because the Titans like to play a lot of zone behind a four-man rush. However, you can bet he will see his share of Mason, the Ravens' top receiver, who managed to catch 80 passes during the regular season and a team-leading four against Miami, even though he's Baltimore's only true game-breaking threat. Mason is crafty in running routes and knows how to use the sidelines to his advantage. But Finnegan is a tremendous athlete always capable of making a big play.

NASHVILLE, TN, Jan. 4, 2008 — Now it really feels just like the 2000 season all over again for the Tennessee Titans.

That was the season Tennessee posted the NFL's best record at 13-3 and earned the AFC's No. 1 seed with home-field advantage - just like this year. Tampa is hosting the Super Bowl, just like in 2000. And the Baltimore Ravens added to the deja vu feeling Sunday by beating Miami 27-9 to earn a trip to Music City for an AFC divisional playoff game next Saturday.

The Ravens won that 2000 divisional playoff game 24-10 en route to their Super Bowl championship.

The Titans? Well, they are targeting an eventual trip to Tampa, too, in what will be a rematch of a 13-10 win over the Ravens in Baltimore on Oct. 5.

"Now that we know our opponent, we have a tremendous challenge ahead of us," Titans coach Jeff Fisher said in a statement Sunday. "Baltimore has improved in all areas since we saw them earlier this season. They are built around a strong run game and a great defense, which reminds us of the classic matchups against them in the past."

Ravens fan here, hoping for a good game.

Very excited about this contest. The Ravens' rush defense is one of the league's best but your RB tandem is good enough to break through on a few plays and do some serious damage.

What's the injury status on Vanden Bosch and Mawae?

It was a good season while it lasted. Too bad the Titans played like they were real rusty and coughed up the ball numerous of times. Hopefully we'll have better luck in the 09 fall season.
