No. I doubt the guy could suit up in any capacity for us this year.

he has no business on a playoff contender. he's not even a pg anymore. he's too slow to even guard sg's and he can't shoot to save his life.

Heat releases Livingston, can be had for a bag of chips

Post#4 » by snaquille oatmeal » Tue Jan 6, 2009 5:17 pm

According to a report published by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the Miami Heat informed guard Shaun Livingston last night after the team's loss to San Antonio that he has been released.

An official announcement is expected on Tuesday morning.

According to the report, Livingston's release is more because of luxury tax reasons rather than his health. He had been attempting a comeback from a gruesome Feb. 26, 2007 knee injury that left him with a dislocated left kneecap and three torn ligaments.

Livingston seemingly had grown increasingly frustrated over his lack of opportunity, displaying disappointment over his nightly spot on the inactive list.

With the release, the Heat could utilize the vacated roster spot on a 10-day contract with another player or hold it open for a return by center Alonzo Mourning, who is rehabilitating from a Dec. 2007 knee injury

I say take the chance, send him to the D-league to get back into NBA shape and learn the triangle. let him come up and play with the Lakers when he is ready. thoughts.....

if u can get him for nothing then go for it. he can backup fish while farmar is out. if it doesnt work, we can always sit him. dont think we're risking much by signing him..

The contract Livingston signed with the Heat guaranteed only $370,000 for this season, a figure that keeps the team below the punitive dollar-for-dollar luxury tax on excessive payrolls.
I think it would be safe to say that Lays salt and vinager would do the trick and they don't even have to have ridges.

btw you do know what they say about girls that like salt and vinager chips.

He is worth a couple of 10 day contracts for sure. It would be nice to blow out a few teams and find him 15 min or so a night just to see how effective he could be. He is 6-7 w/ a good handle but has only played in 4 games this year averaging 10 minutes.

I don't think he really knows what level he is at but the Heat really never gave him a chance to see, they dropped him so they didn't have to guarantee his contract thus effecting the salary cap.

Their will probably be a few more wavier guys today as the start of 10 day contracts will begin.

They should absolutely get him. Why the hell not. They like tall pg's anyway. I know they like them to play d and shoot which he can't but what if he gets even to 70 percent of his potential.

That's what I'm saying. The chips sound a bit more desirable at this point.

Why not? I wonder how he is defensively. He was an above average defender before the knee injury.

But is there anything wrong with signing him to a contract for the minimum for the rest of the season? I don't think so.

he sucks. i don't think anyone that wants him actually watched him play. i've been a livingston fan and the livingston of today doesn't belong in the nba as a rotation player. may be next off season.

Fellow Laker Fans..I implore you..don't waste your time. Being surrounded by Heat News every day, its clear that they released him for three reasons.

1. Mario Chalmers is going to be the future at the PG spot for them, and they have a decent set of backups in Chris Quinn and Marcus Banks for the time being.

2. This is basically a repeat of the Penny Hardaway situation last year in Miami. Talented, but his body just can't do what his mind wants to do right now. He's still in the healing process and won't be truly ready until next season.

3. They had to release him because his contract would become guaranteed this week. This move keeps them under the Luxury Tax and frees up and open spot for when Alonzo Mourning is ready to re-sign with the team.

don't we have an extra roster spot since we let go of Coby?
Besides, farmar is probably out for the whole season and Sun yue is an NBDL player at best.
I say go for it. He left the clippers because he thought he was worth more but since the Heats let him go.. his stocks are down.. so we most likely can get him for cheap....

Just don't bring back that imagine of his injury and u'll learn to like him again hehe
