Shuan Livington RELEASED.

Post#1 » by Smills91 » Tue Jan 6, 2009 7:11 am

Well, with the way the PG play has been, WHY NOT. If he ever puts it all together, which is possible(even though I doubt it), then we'd have a 6'7 guy in Martin, Livingston, Garcia, Salmons.

We could create some massive match-up problems. Why not throw him a bone, and try him out, we got nothing else to lose.

No Smills. He has already crapped out for two teams this season. If he were to take the TWO total years it is going to take him to get back any slight sempblance of his previous talent and then go PROVE that he can still get it done in the Euro or equivalent league then I would say to bring him in. Not before any of that though.

I would take a chance on him as long as it was for the minimum salary for sure !

It's a small risk, high reward type of move. Beno has been dreadful for the majority of the season.

I think Miami thought the same thing as you're thinking Smills. Either Mario Chalmers is that good, or Shaun Livingston isn't going to come back.

It happened to Penny Hardaway also. He was the same type of big and fast guy who dominated for a few years, had to have knee surgery and never had the quickness to beat anyone again. He was able to stay in the league but only as an average player (i.e. Beno!). I would still like to see Brown start and see what he can do for a while. If you can sign Livingston to replace MM I've got your back on that one. How do you start a guy scoring 4 points a game? Why is JT not playing full time minutes. Tim Duncan played 39 minute a game his first year and they are similar type players. MM and KT score 6 points and 11 rebounds in 30 + minutes as PF. Why the continued kid gloves on JT? What are we going to lose? They are basing this rookies can't handle the pressure off theory of Jason Williams who could not handle presssure at any level, he smoked himself out of college twice because he couldn't handle it. JT is not JWill. We have 46 wins during the MM 2 year era! That's like 23 a year. MM is a loser, we have won with Brad not with MM.

Maybe we go with one of the big 6'7" PG with our 2nd round pick. Grevious and there is another one. I still want to see what Brown can do. Beno is OK, he would be better on a team of vets who he wouldn't have to win games for similar to JWill.

Keep playing MM only if we want to get Blake Griffin. He and JT would make a nice front court. I would still like to see the Brown-Martin-JT-Shelden-Hawes starting lineup this year after the Miller trade. That way we don't get pushed around defensively, can rebound, and have enough offense to win. Bring in Beno-Garcia-Salmons-Greene-MM off the bench. That is a pretty stacked team when they mature. All we need is a star PG (Curry or Harden) in the draft and we are set. Make sure Salmons gets BJax like number of touches and everyone is happy. We will have depth and talent. We need to remember the playoffs go through Portland, LA, Utah, and Spurs. So we need a lineup that can compete against all. I just don't like the conitinued use of MM and Thomas on a team that gets pushed around nightly.

PG-depleted Miami wouldn't take him. Are you serious?

For Miami to release him and only playing in 4 games with no stats this kid is done. I would try to get "white chocolate" out of retirement and maybe a few more people would go to the games. Beno has been just bad this year. I just don't know why Jason signed with the clips and then quit.

He's obviously not as good as he used to be, but he definitely has some game left in him. Unlike Penny, Shaun also has age on his side. I'd take him over Beno. Him and Martin would complement each other perfectly just like my avy.

I stand with my original statement - let him prove it in the minors/Europe and THEN we can think about it. Its really too soon to tell with his type of injury whether he has it still or not.

As far as Beno goes, I'm really afraid that he and Kenny Natt don't click - nor will he with any other demanding coach. Why do you think he couldn't cut it regularly with Pop in SA? The guy is an offensive legend in his own mind, and he doesn't react well to discipline. look how out of control he plays all the time. Like Manu, but without the size to keep him from getting picked/hurt. i betcha he gets hurt again here - with some kind of wussy injury - pretty quick now that he is obviously in Natt's doghouse. I think that we might seriously get him moved before the chance to do so goes away. I think that his value is still OK as long as all the questions (unsteady coach/team situation) are still in effect.

Miami moderator here... IMO Shaun is done as a PG in the league (if not done then years away from it), for his time down here he looked like how Penny Hardaway looked last season for the few games he played for us... a 6'7" slow, leg dragging small forward with passing ability... the days of him running the point are over, unfortunately. The knee injury was too gruesome, he'll never be the same.

And yes, Mario Chalmers is that good, he will be our starting point guard for years to come. He may not be spectacular, but he is very smart and solid, on both ends of the floor, in a Derek Fisher type of way.
