Don't Say, "I Told You So".

Post#1 » by vincecarter4pres » Wed Jan 7, 2009 10:19 pm

Within the next couple days we make a trade with Memphis for Lowry or Conley, I am imagining Lowry.

Memphis cut Miles and traded a 2nd round pick and cash for Shaun Livingston.

I am calling it now.

Book it.

If we were able to do like a 2-for-1 and get Sean and Ager off our books to free up a roster spot, I'd love life.

If we got Lowry or Conley, I'd put a pig in $#!T

No, I meant "put." It's an old Italian tradition. On days of celebration, it's customary to put a pig in $#!T.

...and I'm dumb. I just got home from work so that's my excuse lol.

Yeah I just saw that. i wonder what the hell is going on. Trades always heat up after the new year and whatnot, but the Livingston deal, Atkins to OKC deal, Adams to the Clippers. Lotta random small trades went down.

Also...how the hell did we not land Atkins? Atkins and a 1st for Petro and a 2nd. BS we could have given them a better deal. Whatever.

Regardless, The next 30 or so days should be fun on the trade front.

I wouldn't mind going after Livingston.

Even if he turned into a worthless bum, you only have to sign him to a min deal for the rest of the season and buyout Ager.

I know it will never happen.

I would rather have Lowry, but who knows.

That's why he's out there. He's not healthy.

For the Nets' sake, be thankful they didn't land Atkins. He's one of the worst perimeter defenders in the NBA.

He'd be playing 10 minutes a game. 99% of the time we'd never have in him the game when we need a defensive stop. It's irrelevant. Vet PG who can run an offense for 10 minutes a game and has a small buyout next season.

That is why I have a feeling that Mr. Gill will end up back in NJ this season.

Yeah they didn't send a contract their way and all so I really don't get it. I mean I think they're under the cap if I'm not mistaken and Miami sent them the cash to buy him out too. Memphis has a very young team and likely wouldn't sign/draft that 2nd round pick so it really cost them $0.00 to make this move I believe. Maybe they were doing Miami a favor or something. I'm too lazy to look into any of this though because I really don't care about eithe team.

Terrible defense is never irrelevant.

It was a conditional 2012 pick. I'm too lazy to check, but usually those "conditional 2nd rounders" are something absurd like Miami would only get it if it's between picks 56-60. For it to be a trade, something technically has to be going the other way.

In addition to the amount to buy out Livingston, Miami I'm sure had to include some added cash for Memphis' trouble.

If, or more than likely when we open up a roster spot, I wouldn't mind giving JC Carroll a try.
He looked awesome in summer league and Rod and other scouts said if we had another roster spot it probably would have been his, even over Hodge and that other teams in the league should keep their eye on him.

I know some of this was to be nice to the kid and keep his confidence up, but I think for the most part it was truly genuine.
I am actually suprised no one else in the league gave him a try, even on a ten day.
