There are so many Free Agents...

Post#1 » by phoolishly_insane » Wed Jan 7, 2009 10:35 pm

There are so many Veteran free agents that Danny can sign and he can always cut 1 or 2 players from our roster like POB or Cassell (since he's only coaching these days).
At the moment, we are on a slump and we've lost 5 games since the 19 game winning streak due to weak bench. I'm not saying we should start panicking but our bench have been exposed!
I still believe that we can still win the championship this season if we sign one of the following players like:

Ruben Patterson
Bonzi Wells
Robert Horry
Damon Stoudamire
Alonzo Mourning
PJ Brown - Possibly Retired
Austin Croshere
Michael Doleac
Raef LaFrentz
Ira Newble
Jannero Pargo
Anthony Carter
Othella Harrington
Fred Jones

What do you think? 8-)

Well, Raef in his prime was close to the ultimate jump-shooting big man, and probably could have adapted to our current defensive scheme as well -- but that was quite a few injuries ago.
Banned temporarily for, among other sins, being "Extremely Deviant".

Nearly all these guys would be an upgrade over our current bench.

Sam is not going anywhere. He will start playing after all star break. That has been the plan all along. Hmmm Raef back in Boston? I guess it would be better than nothing and it would be good to have another pre big 3 celtic on board but... there has to be a better option.

My fondest memory of Raef was that game where he was lights out the 1st half. Had something like 5 or 6 3's.

We also might be able to add Chucky Atkins to this list soon. He just got traded to the land of buyouts(OKC) for Petro.

I'd love to have Bonzi Wells here, but he's playing in the CBA. Are there any restrictions about getting him or can we easily pull him out of there?

Ha, I was at that game against Houston....I think he was like 7-7 from the 3pt line....the small crowd in the garden was going nuts...

I read an article about the Bonz recently where he said he was happy playing in China, and averaging 46pts/gm to boot. Maybe a chance to win a championship would sway him, but he's does have a contract with CBA.

That was against Houston. He was always good against Yao :)

Raef was a special player as shooting range and serious shot blocking abilities are pretty rare on Centers. If healthy he'd be that kind of guy you combine with the Big Al's of this world.
