Should Josh Powell start?

I mean I like his aggressiveness, he is a good denfender and he cleans up on the boards.
I personally think he could do a better job than Rad on defense, and as long as we can score then all we can ask from him is to play D and help on the boards.
I like this kid and I think he should start.
Thoughts?

nah, his minutes should increase with the injuries but i think he is best suited right now bringing energy off the bench

I wouldn't mine starting him but if we were to start him instead of RAD... imagine what RAD would say next during his press conference... "im unhappy with the team and want to leave.. " lol..

I mean i don't mine him leaving but it's the bad chemistry that i don't want to plague the lakers. But who knows.. he might just get that chance to start since were are down 3. I hope we don't pick up Darius miles.. please oh please.. don't let it happen.

At small forward? I don't think so. If there happened to be an injury to Bynum or Gasol (god forbid), then that would be a good option.

We're going to need some front court depth with Odom most likely out. Josh should bring that off the bench.

Uh, Josh is a straight-up power forward. So unless Pau has about 40 more games like he did last night, this isn't even an option.

Otherwise, I generally like Josh's effort, and I definitely wouldn't mind seeing him get a few more minutes. He took a lame turnaround down the stretch last night that hurt us -- guess he just wanted to fit in with Fish and Trevor -- but otherwise he's usually pretty steady, especially on the boards.

S.T Im talking about using him strictly to clean up boards and D.
I mean he will get his points, but he is aggressive on the boards and I like his D.

I like him, too. But where would you start him? Over Gasol? That's the only spot he can play, and that simply isn't happening.

No I know not over Pau, It sounds crazy but Im talking about the 3spot.

Nah, he's simply not built for the position. He'd be a proverbial fish out of water.

It will be nice to see Powell get 20 min a night for a stretch of games, just to see if he has a future beyond the deep bench and maybe a rotation player in the future. From what I've seen he crashes the boards and does a nice job.

The one big thing that I don't like is his free throw shooting. I don't know what it is but if guys like Lamar and Josh could make their free throws they'd be that much more dangerous out their.

Josh could be an easy 10 and 6 guy if he hit his free throws and that is in limited minutes.

Yeah if Odom is to much of a pf to play sf which is just nutty then Powell?

How did the old Pacers get away with starting the Davis boys at the forward spots? Maybe the 3's were alot less athletic back then.

Barring injuries to Smits, they didn't. Dale Davis started, and Antonio Davis almost always came off the bench.

Sure......... Why not, you saw how well he played last night, he's aggressive and he did really good on D.
14 minutes had 4 points and 4 rebounds, he clogged up the middle and fought for every rebound.
He's got heart and he always plays with a high energy level.

when u have gasol and bynum cleaning up the boards, theres no need for powell to be in there. who would rebound for the second unit if powell started? radman??......lol

i like what the guy brings but i don't think his game will fit in as a 3.

Nah, not at the 3. I love his energy off the bench as a big man. He's that hustle player/tough rebounder/aggressive defender that all championship teams need off their bench (or in the starting lineup). I def think he'll be important in big games and in the playoffs.

But not starting, and def not at the 3, ever. I like lineups with Pau at center and Powell at foward though. Only in the middle of the game though, since I want Bynum starting with Pau.
