OT: Gran Torino

Post#1 » by tiredandhungry67 » Thu Jan 8, 2009 8:54 am

Gran Torino was an amazing movie.
Pretty racist towards the Asian community, but it was phenomenal.
Not vintage Clint with murder murder everywhere, but something we will all see when watching the Oscar's for best picture, best actor, and best actor and actress in supporting role.

I can't bring myself to see it, because of this line:

"...because as long as there are gangs in this world _______ & _______ will never find peace." Or something awful like that.

There are two types of people (I've noticed) those who absolutely worship Eastwood's movies and those who don't.

Haven't been much of a fan of anything since Unforgiven. But who knows? Maybe I'll come around.

That movie looks really good. I was between seeing that and Valkyrie but I saw Valkyrie instead. Everyone's been talking about slumdog millionaire, but after seeing previews I just couldnt' bring myself to watch it. Gran Torino is definitely the next one I'll be seeing in theatres, though the Unborn looks good also.

Don't forget to bring a few black guys. Those are the ones we're really scared of.

Somebody told me it's like a parody, very embarrassing. Somebody else told me it's amazing. I haven't seen it.

It's on my list to see, Clint is one of my favorites. But go see The Wrestler, that film is the best of the year.

Great movie. Clint is in classic form. He wrote, directed and stars in the movie. His line. GET OFF MY LAWN. Just classic Eastwood. I would say a must see.

I saw benjamin button instead. Such a freaking long movie. 3hrs long. Not bad though. Good story line and aging affects. I admit, Cate Blanchett is hot in there. Something about old men and young girls that kinda freaked me out at first but it balanced out... but overall good movie.. watch it with a chick.

I'll probably either see Torino or Valkyrie this weekend.

That's the impression I get from the ads. The clip of a 102-year-old Eastwood growling "get off my lawn" at a bunch of gang members seems a bit preposterous. But it's gotten so much positive pub I'll probably see it at some point.

You'd regret not watching Slumdog Millionaire man. Its an amazing movie and I'm not just saying it because I'm Indian origin. Its got shades of City of God here and there but still its a pretty impressive movie and the best among the ones you mentioned.

Gran Torino was amazing. Sure it has racist parts, because Eastwood's character is a racist......that's the whole point. Without the racism there would be no movie.
