Celtics Call Up Walker and Giddens

Post#1 » by return2glory » Thu Jan 8, 2009 9:42 pm

Help is on the way. We just called up Walker and Giddens. Now hopefully Doc can play them. Walker at SF and Giddens as Ray Allen's back up. This is the energy need we. These two are our most atheltic players. Now PGA can get a little rest.

Ainge was at the Utah Flash game on Tuesday. He must think they are ready. Walker was very impressive that game in front on Ainge, scoring 26 points on 10-12 shooting, 5-5 from the line and 1-1 from 3's.

Hmmm, interesting. Danny doesn't usually seem the type to make short sighted decisions, I wonder if this means a trade is on the way....

I agree with the op.

The Celtics can really benefit from athletic players like Giddens and Walker bringing some Energy and Hustle to the second unit

Reading between the lines, this looks like Danny is getting ready to pull the trigger on something.

Stay tuned.

Let's replace Davis and TA with these kids and see what happens...I still think saying "help is on the way", as the OP did, is a bit much, though...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

so who goes inactive? TA maybe? Could this be a sign of a coming trade ... or am i reading too much into this? Time for a ten man rotation.

If theres a trade it better be for a player like Joe Smith or a player like James Posey (Wishful Thinking)

We wouldn't need to call them up if there was a trade since his they are part of our team whether they are in Boston our in the NBDL.

Whose being negative now? Have a little faith in Walker and Giddens. They are exactly what we need now. Some fresh legs, some energy, and big time athleticism.

^^Maybe it's for showcasing purposes?? Because if we're gonna dump someone else who is already sucking (Davis, TA) then it makes no sense...

If Ainge trades people like Davis, TA, Powe, POB, House, Pruitt etc. then the Celtics are short for the Cleveland game. Thats where Giddens and Walker come in.

it does seem odd to call both Walker and Giddens up at the same time considering they play the same positions. Walker is more of 3 then Giddens but you get the idea.

I think they had to be brought up together. They were sent down more or less together, giddens slightly before, and they have been playing down there together and coming together as teammates. I think they are pretty much being treated as a package deal by management so that neither of them gets too high or low. It's not that they are both gonna get minutes, but I don't think Ainge wanted to call one up and not the other and leave them half way across the country without the other.

Walker is more a SF and hopefully can get a chance to back up Pierce. Giddens is a SG and hopefully will get a chance to back up Ray.

I don't expect Doc will play them a lot of minutes or even both of them. But I feel this is a good move and there will be more good news to follow in the next few weeks.

With TA being out for a couple of more games that is probably the main reason they have been called back but I really hope they get some minutes with the second unit. Play them at the back up SG/SF, they can only help our bench!

Quoting a Poster from Celticsblog.....

I just posted this in the Bill Walker thread, but I don't know how much they are really "called up". Ainge talked about it on WEEI this afternoon, and said they were both heading back to Boston to "get some rest", and have some injuries looked at (Gidden's wrist, and Walker apparently tweaked his leg a bit the other night). He said they would evaluate them next week, but did not seem too confident that they would be playing for the C's any time soon.

I still feel Ainge has something up his sleeve...

Ainge probably feels that they aren't getting the medical treatment that they will get with the team. I was at the Flash game when J.R. landed hard on his wrist and re injurued it a few weeks ago. Giddens was on the bench, wrapping up this own wrist. He didn't get much medical attention.

Ugh, terrible news. I actually hoped they would get a fair chance to show they are better than TA...
