A good video on the Cs Knicks game break down.

Now I know that this has nothing to do with the Lakers, BUT looks like our success against the Cs opened up a few Ws for other teams to beat the Cs.
Notice how we kept K.G out the paint and forced both Rondo and Ray to shoot.
Also, personally I thought it was our help D rotation that was the key to our success.
Anyhow I think this is a good video and I like the break down of the plays.

Nice video and one more thing I liked was when the Celtics were aggressively denying/fronting Harrington or Wilson, the ballhandler didn't force the pass, they used it as a pick and came wide open on the baseline forcing KG or Perkins into a 1 on 2.

I like the Rondo strategy, but it seemed like instead of just sticking to guys and leaving only Rondo, we would end up rotating normally and leave Pierce or Ray. Just double off Rondo like the Knicks and then go back to him. I'd do the same thing with Tony Allen too.

The most important thing for us though is getting back on defense. We're just so lazy getting back, especially after a turnover, it's disgraceful.

^ Couldn't agree more. Being big guys, Bynum and Gasol tend to loaf back quite a bit, and if somebody happens to crash the offensive board that almost always leaves us facing a 3-on-2. We probably give up at least two easy baskets a night on that, which is especially frustrating because it basically boils down to effort.

As for the video, very cool; I love this stuff. Who says D'Antoni doesn't teach D? Not exactly rocket science to sag off Rondo, but they executed pretty well. Like G just pointed out, it's easy to double, but to know who and when to leave, and then rotate accordingly, is a totally different story. They played well.

I watched the fourth quarter of this game. Pierce dropped in a few tough shots to cut it to 5, and I figured it was over at that point. But the Knicks did a really nice job down the stretch and ended up winning going away. David Lee made a freakish putback, kind of a blind reverse layup, that broke their backs. I'd love to have that guy on my squad.

gasol occasionally, bynum though almost every time. i always watch him when its time to run back, and this guy has one speed, slow. guys can be fast breaking right next to him and he has no next gear to shift into.

That has to be effort, right? I mean, I don't expect him to be Usain Bolt, and I have no idea what it's like to carry that much mass around, but how hard can it be to sprint hard for a couple of seconds? Little things like that -- loafing back, the constant bitching at the refs, failing to consistently attack the glass -- really get under my skin.

yeah , i dont think he ever did coach d, but i wonder if the suns d was a function of the personnel, or if he is learning his lesson?

keep in mind that Rondo is a different animal in Boston. he usually makes his shots at home and that is why he is the difference maker at home.

When Rondo is unable to penetrate and teams dare him to shoot, there is no dribble penetration whatsoever. Not saying that Marbury is going to solve this team's current woes, but having a guy who can knock a jumper, penetrate, and provide some rest not only for Rondo, but for Ray Allen as well (who looked exhausted in overtime against the Bobcats) would go a long way.

Seems to me that forcing Ray to shoot is not the best defensive option
BTW, Marbury is awful streaky shooter and demands too many ball. Gonna break the team

Coool Video. I watch the Knicks a lot because I live in NY, and that really was their best defensive game all season. When they get hot with their shooters, they can spread the floor and beat anybody. Their style limits the Celtic way of defense. They (the knicks) basically live and die by the jumper though, which isn't good for consistency lol. But they can beat anybody on any night.

Being able to defend 4 players with 5 is a big help, too. Rondo is screwing his team over with his inability to hit a jumper. It's pretty bad. He's in the nba....he should be able to hit a 17 footer when he's left THAT wide open THAT consistently.

I dont think your current problems lay on Rondo alone.
I think and I have posted this wayyyyyy before we played you guys before Christmas, your bigs are getting tired and there is a heavy load on them to carry this team.
You can see it from the energy level that your team is showing in the 4qt.
But honestly this was expected to happen last year, and it didnt, but this year you can see very clearly.
Also I know you have heard this before about your bench... So Im not going to address that, but if you guys can manage to get a couple of good backups and allow at least 2 of your three bigs to be on the court I think you guys will get back in the flow.
But if I was the Cs, I would be more than glad to see the Allstar break come even sooner so your players can enjoy the time off to regroup.
One thing that I know is that these loses are taking a big toll on the moral and the spirit of your team, and hopefully they can take these loses and see what they need to improve on for the second part of the season.
