Re: Available Bigs
He's on a rookie contract, he has absolutely no discernable skill except for shotblocking, do you really think there are no other guys out there like that? I dont know of anyone who is available off the top of my head, and I'm sure if I scoured every teams' roster that I could find a few, but its really not worth it. Journeymen big guys can block shots and do little else for cheap. Find any number of them.

I'm asking you to look. I sure as hell can't find any.
He also as enough athleticism to play SF so thats another plus.

Re: Available Bigs
I get why everyone might be concerned with a guy like Sean, anyhow, the risk of acquiring him is minimal. He doesn't seem to be absolutely crazy like Harrison was. Besides he offers us directly what we lack. Weakside defense and weakside offensive putbacks created by all of our missed threes. I don't know about range but he can finish underneath. He is a good perimeter defender with the ability to be a great interior presence blocking/ altering shots, rebounding and simply banging.
I liken his potential to Dale Davis.

Re: Available Bigs
Sean Williams is an absolute no. I want no part of Sean Williams. I don't even want Sean Williams in the same state.
Dude can't even play in the D-League.

This is the Sean Williams we want to add to our team? We're finally coming together. Everybody seems to get along great and we want to add this guy.
If we need blocking and athleticism.. look no farther than Josh McRoberts.

In the second game, Williams was thrown out after getting hit with two quick technicals -- with his team down by three points, no less -- and the 14ers lost to Tulsa by seven.
And in his third game -- a four-point loss against Austin at the Showcase -- Williams fouled out in 28 minutes. Worst of all, with scores of scouts and GMs in attendance, he refused to join his teammates in the locker room at halftime -- staying on the bench until there were three minutes left on the clock.
"He's getting what he wanted," the NBA official scout said, "and he's not exactly helping them out. I feel sorry for their team, because he's hurt them since he got there."

I understand that we shouldn't get him, although I'm still looking for an answer as to who is as good of a defender and as athletic that can be had for a cheap price.
Sean Williams would benefit from going into a team that needs him, like OKC or a contender that can get to the rookie and still give him minutes.

No, he wouldnt. If he went to OKC his crappy attitude would poison their other youngsters. Just because he can block shots and is athletic doesnt make him good. As per your request, find any guy who can put up his paltry numbers. That's it. Really, heres a few that give you exactly what Sean Williams would, minus the character red flags: Shelden Williams, Hilton Armstrong, Sean Marks, Jarron/Jason Collins, any other 12th man on an NBA roster...

Re: Available Bigs
i was just on hoopshype.com and read the bio for Baston.
Isnt this what you were looking for in sean williams?
I think he's about a cheap of an option as you'll get. $0.00
Very long... Outstanding leaping skills... A dunk waiting to happen... Runs the floor well... Very active defender... Good shot blocker coming from the weak side... Struggles when guarding bigger and stronger opponents, though.

Again, I'm not talking about numbers. I'm talking about what he brings. Who on your list is as good of a shotblocker and is athletic enough to give Micheal Beasley problems?
Shelden Williams: Better rebounder, worse dunker, worse shotblocker, poor athleticism. Better scoring. Does not complement Murphy.
Jarron/Jason Collins: Worse shotblocker, equal rebounding, worse at scoring (thats really hard). Does not complement Murphy.
Hilton Armstrong: Yes. I would love to have him. He is the equal of Sean Williams. But he's a 15mpg player in NO, so he is much harder to get.
Sean Marks: I really really hope you are kidding. Have you SEEN him play? Are you just pulling random bigs out of a hat now?
Maceo Baston: Hoopshype? Really? Baston is much older, doesn't have as much leap as he used too. Also very undersized. Also can't do this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNC-HdtP ... re=channel
So yes, I concede, Armstrong is the only player on your list as good as Sean Williams, but his price is much higher.
As for OKC, you do realize that their entire locker room is screwed up right? I mean no one is listening to the coach. The team is a mess.

Re: Available Bigs
Bottom line is with his issues, and the fact that he can't make in the D-League. He will not be a Pacer. There's plenty of one trick ponies like Sean Williams every year in the 2nd round of the draft. I'll admit when he first came into the league I thought his "potential" ability would have been great for us. But even then before hew proved he was a bust I wouldn't have picked him up due to red flags. We have probably one of the best locker room chemistry out there right now. And that's saying a lot considering our record. I think the Pacers will be patient enough to draft a big in the draft. So do like I do when the Pacers don't go after a player you want. Pop in 2K9 on the 360 and do it yourself.

?
I've said that I don't think he will be Pacer, and I don't think that he is Pacer material. I've said that like twice already.
I'm just still asking you guys to find someone who is a better weakside shotblocker with the same value. So far Hilton Armstrong has been the only one with a similar skill set that has been mentioned right now.
