My plan to make the A playoff team AND still have the salary in 2010

Why do the Nets do this?

We get an above average player that also compliments this team well for NOTHING. He solves some of our perimeter defense, Get a third scorer and he can run with Harris.

Why would even the bulls consider this trade?

After that we should sign Shaun Livingston.

Since when did Larry Hughes translate into a playoff team?

Regardless, even though I'm contradicting myself from my jab I just took, I like Larry Hughes. If we gave up NOTHING for him, I'd be willing to take a chance on him. He's put up some decent stats this year. His contract is atrocious in terms of what he puts out on average, but I think I'd do this deal. It frees up 2 roster spots where we could add some players. If it doesn't work out, his contract could be very enticing come the deadline next season. And like you said, he comes off the books when we need it.

I brought him up before but not many seemed to bite. If Thorn made the move, I wouldn't be opposed. Even with that said, I kinda still want to see where this team plays out. I really am on the fence with any move we make. I don't want to make a move where we become a 1st round out and get the a mid round draft pick. If we do it with our current team, I'd be happy, but with rent-a-players it's kind of taking a step back to me. I don't know I'm rambling.

Again, most of Thorns trade's have been good for us. If he made the move, I'd support it. If it was my team though, I'd probably make a smaller move to free a roster spot or two and see how it pans out. Next season we have to be a little bolder, but this season I still think management just wants to feel things out.

I can't believe I'm about to say this - because the mere thought of Larry Hughes as a team player makes me laugh uncontrollably - but I would pull the trigger on this trade. Basically, I think this trade would help us simply because it frees up a couple of roster spaces - like Preludepunk said. If we could just give Ager and Hassell away to free up a spot to sign another PG, I'd do that too. Sadly, I don't think that's a legal move according to the NBA, lol. Heaven help the team that trades for Hughes and doesn't play him, though.

lol SIC is on a roll... I thought about this in the past but... I'd rather keep Hughes off this team he demands touches when he can't shoot, he kills offensive continuity and all he does on defense is gamble. You're also taking on about $8 million more in salary...

Yeah his contract, even though it expires in 2010, isn't worth it. I think the Bulls just found that out.

Why would Hughes' contract would matter to us? We have 3 players that would have expiring contracts next year(not adding Hassell that would sign his player option) Not to mention, the 3 players that has expiring contracts is Swift(6 mill), Ager(1mill), Hayes(2mill). Right now we are over the Salary Cap for about 10 mill. So even if the players we have expires in our team we wouldn't have enough cap to sign anybody for next year except our MLE. So basically what i'm saying is having Hughes' contract or Swift, Ager, and Hayes would have the same affect going to next year.

In the Bulls' Perspective, Why would they not want hughes contract? First of the right now the Bulls are over 12 mill salary cap. However they have 6 players that has expiring contracts in the team.(Gooden(7 mill), Gordon(6mill),Simmons(2mill),Ruffin(1mill),Hunter(1mill)Gray(1mill). That adds up to about 18 mill PLUS if they get rid of Hughes Contract it would be about 30mill. So they would clear there cap and have 18 mill capspace. Obviously with that much of money The bulls are trying to make a move in the free agency for the next 2 years.

Basically what this trade is a win-win situation for both team. FOR both short term and Long term so why would we even say no to this trade?

BTW, Hassel does not have a player option next year, he has a partially guarenteed contract, essentially making him an expiring.
