Sean McDermott
According to Schefter he is a leading candidate for the DC job.

Re: Sean McDermott
He's the 3rd "leading candidate" we've had now. It's kind of funny how reporters throw that term around. Nolan doesn't excite me, he seems to be a pretty "safe" choice. Williams is a little more exciting, I think he'd be better than Nolan. A guy like McDermott though, he's very intriguing. I'd love to have a guy who's worked with Jim Johnson in Philly for so long.

Re: Sean McDermott
I would rank them 1. McDermott 2. Williams and 3. Nolan.
If Nolan gets it, it's because McCarthy is his buddy and thinks he owes him. That was the same kind of thinking that brought Kurt Schotttenheimer on board.

I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: Sean McDermott
McDermott is this year's hot assistant. I'd be somewhat surprised if he isn't offered a HC position.

I'd be very surprised if he gets offered a head coaching position. I haven't even heard his name mentioned as a HC candidate. If anything, he's the hot position coach assistant who is most likely to be offered his first coordinator job. Spagnuolo is this year's hot assistant (probably followed by Rex Ryan) who is likely to get a HC job, not McDermott. With that said, there is no way Schefter really knows that McDermott is the frontrunner. I mean, we could not have even interviewed the guy yet, so nobody can really say he's a front runner.

Re: Sean McDermott
I meant more of a unit/position coach, not coordinator. Like John Harbaugh or Jim Zorn.

Re: Sean McDermott
I really want McDermott or anyone else associated with the Eagles defense. That system would be perfect here, an attacking defense that has unique blitz packages.

Re: Sean McDermott
Great, now we'll have to wait if they're seriously considering McDermott. I think if they want to wait on him, we're not going to be hiring Williams. As time goes by and head coaching spots are filled, coordinators will start getting hired, and I think he's A LOT more likely than Nolan to be hired elsewhere. They might ask permission to talk to McDermott this week anyway if he truly is a candidate they're interested in, but I don't see that happening this week. I guess we'll see what happens...

Re: Sean McDermott
My money is still on Gregg Williams. The way the Saints have talked about him I'm surprised he wasn't offered a contract there last week already. He very well could have been offered a contract and is waiting on our decision/offer as well. MM better decide by next Friday.

Re: Sean McDermott
Houston will get Williams, they have all the $$$$ and can outspend anyone from what I have heard. Put me in the McDermott camp, I am guessing his people have already been in touch with the Packer people.

Re: Sean McDermott
If Green Bay gets him, why not snatch the heart of that D in the process??? I know he's 35 but a heck of a player and who better to get that system started?
According to FOX's Pam Oliver, Eagles S Brian Dawkins fully intends to play football in 2009.
Dawkins, 35, will be a free agent and plans to play elsewhere if the Eagles don't re-sign him. Philly doesn't have anyone ready to replace Dawkins, so look for the sides to agree to a one-year contract for about $3 million.

I'll take Dawkins whether we hire McDermott or not.
