Joe Butcher 24 yr old football player who never went to college, and has yet to give up on his dream of playing in the NFL
He is a Wide Receiver/Return Specialist who has been playing Semi Pro football in Lima Ohio for the last 5 seasons. And is faster than MOST nfl wide receivers. Joe attempted to go to college and drew interest from Ohio State, Oregon, Minnesota, Ball State, and Marshall. However because of an NCAA rule 14.2.3.5 that states a player loses a year of college eligibility each year after the age of 21 that he plays in that sport. Since Joe has been playing Semi Pro ball for 5 seasons he has exhausted all of his college eligibility.

Here’s rule 14.2.3.5, in its entirety:

“In sports other than tennis and swimming and diving, any participation as an individual or a team representative in organized sports competition by a student during each 12-month period after the student’s 21st birthday and prior to initial full-time enrollment in a collegiate institution shall count as one year of varsity competition in that sport. Participation in organized competition during time spent in the U.S. armed services shall be excepted.”

Joe is now in contact with the NFL. Tape has been sent to all 32 NFL teams and 8 CFL teams. AFL is not having a season this year. Some teams like his talents. Although, because of his lack of college experience they feel that he will be better suited playing a year or two in the Canadian Football League. For example the New York Jets like his talents enough and think he is young enough(24 years old) and have forwarded his information onto the Montreal Alouettes of the CFL. Also spoke with Bob O'Billovich from the Hamiltion Tiger-Cats just this afternoon, he is expecting and looking forward to seeing the info I sent to him Saturday. I am just trying to get Joe's name out there to get some feedback and hits on his you tube video below.

Yeah- A player like Joe, with no college experience, no proffessional experience is beating off high profile agents with a stick.

Not looking for a contract or smarty pants remarks. Just remember the name, beacuse he will catch on somewhere.

He's 24 and never went to college. There is a reason why he never went to college (though I don't know what it is). He's short and he's making his name playing against former D-III players and HS losers still holding onto the dream. The odds are mightily stacked against him.

This guy is the poster child for the need for a developmental league. Let some team sign him, see what he's got against a better level of competition, see if he's got the mental acuity to be a professional in a low-risk manner.

2. Notirity
3. No Money

Although- Major colleges such as Oregon and Marshall were extremly interested in Joe's abilities. He has just exhausted his eligibility. He does all he can do with the opprotunities he has. The competition is rotton. But what more could Wes Welker or Lance Moore do against similiar competition.

Yeah it's beyond crappy. Well that's because all the athletes with Joe's talents are either playing Division 1 football or in the NFL.

To the best of my knowledge you file paperwork with the NFL that renounces your college eligibility. Most people do it thru their SID/AD office at school or have their agents do it. I dunno how to do it if you aren't a player though, would be funny to see someone try it.
