Why would the wizards do this??
I would think they'd like to start rebuilding and start MOVING veterans not dealing for them...

Re: Vince Carter trades
Scenario 1 just wouldn't happen. Period. Caron isn't all that much younger than Vince, and is nowhere near the player. You need to think of Butler in the sense that he plays in a defenseless system where shooting from just about every player isn't just encouraged, but demanded. In other words, any very good player (which Caron is) would look great in that system (which Caron does). Vince is still - in my opinion - the third best shooting guard in the NBA (behind Kobe and D-Wade).
Scenario 2 intrigues me. I love Nick Young and I really like Andray Blatche. If we were to trade Vince - to complete our re-build and get away from his salary - I wouldn't be totally against this trade.

I am still on the fence about Nick Young, but in the time he got early in the season, the looked pretty solid. Andray Blatche is what Sean Williams wishes he could be basically. They're both lazy as all hell, but Andray could be compared to a younger, more raw, poor mans version of Lamar Odom because he can actually play the 3 a little bit. Like you said though, I wouldn't jump for joy over this trade, however, I wouldn't be totally against it if management just wanted to mail this season in and shed his salary.

Re: Vince Carter trades
After the Suns and Bobcats trade, I dont see many other teams that would be interested in VC.
Portland to me is should be a focus especially if the Miles thing falls through. They would be in a salary cap nightmare and would need another star to take the pressure off Roy, Aldridge and Oden.
Though this may be a stretch but something like:
VC, Swift, Hassel, and SW for Lafrentz, Bayless, Frye, Frenandez/Rodriguez and Webter/Outlaw. We waive Ager. Then we waive Lafrentz.
Yeah we lose our "LEADER", but in the long run we are better off.
I think a back court of Harris and Bayless feeding the post of Yi and Lopez would work. When they are not FRANK can continue his BS course with that Dribble Drive BS.

This is beyond a stretch.
You want half their roster of young up and comers for VC and our most malcontent and disappointing prospect.
Not happening.
If we trade with PDX, a semi-realstic deal would be Rudy, LaFrentz, 1st rounder.
Even that might be a stretch, just for the simple fact that Pritchard had to walk through fire to get Rudy to come over to the U.S.

^ Yeah I know, but cant I a guy atleast some HOPE for something good to happen. SECRETS!!!!!!
Clearly, My HOPING for Frank to get FIRED is going to come true.
But if the Miles thing goes haywire, it is going to be interesting what Portland does.

Honestly the only places Vince can go are Western team's thinking that they're an elite SG/SF away from winning it all.
Team's like Utah,Houston,Dallas (no real interesting remaining talent for us),Pheonix (less likley with Richardson), Portland and even the Lakers are possible options.......The Wizards? not so much.

Portland is the only team in my eyes that would be interested in us where we could acquire some talent. He could land in Utah, but nobody really interests me there that would fit into our team that we could realistically acquire.

Re: Vince Carter trades
Utah would be a good fit for him, or New Orleans or the Magic. But I'm not sure if any of those teams has the assets to make it worth our while.
But really, Vince has looked great this year, and with his help we are likely to make the playoffs with a team that nobody would have ever pegged as a playoff contender before the season. Playoff experience is helpful for our young guys, and it could help the future of the franchise even as it creeps ever onward towards the move to brooklyn.
Keep Vince this year, and wait till contending teams get desperate and decide to trade away valuable young prospects for help in the short term (like, say, Paul Millsap).

Lets be realistic. We are a .500 team.
Based on Thorn's pass, if a deal comes up that will help this team, VC IS GONE!!!!!!
So all that sentimental stuff is BS right now. The sooner you understand that the easier the transition.
All honesty, I think VC gone would be better for this team.
1 - Harris would be the Leader
2 - Brooks would have a bigger part in the offense.s
3 - Yi would be more aggressive as the Second option.

Re: Vince Carter trades
Let VC retire a Net.
We are not getting Bosh, Lebron or Wade and probably not Amare.
The only reason I care much about cap room is it allows us to absorb more salary then we send out in a trade, so if a team was looking to dump a big contract we are major players.
I still feel the thinking in the FO is to try and make a blockbuster trade next season and or this one with expirings and a young guy and a draft pick or 2.
We shall see.
And SIC, as much as I would prefer VC staying here as long as we are improving, winning and still making future moves, I am not in denial.
I know if the right move comes Rod has to make it.
I just think people that want to dump his contract, such as yourself, think a lot of garbage trades are good.
Cap space means nothing if we can't attract a big time FA that actually fits.
I don't want to trade VC at the expense of wasting the precious capspace on one of the 2nd tier guys that by 2010 will be 30+ years old themselves.
If we were to trade VC, I want only a handful of players back, such as Rudy Fernandez, Jeff Green, Rudy Gay, maybe Nick Young, maybe a S&T for Ben Gordon and a handful of others I am not as big on.
Worse comes to worse, I would rather trade him in the offseason for a top 7 lotto pick to a team like Minnesota, OKC or Indianna, etc., that may legitimately feel they are majorly improved and VC makes sense to them for 2 years.
That or a trade with a team that has a star player that makes sense here that is demanding a trade.

Re: Vince Carter trades
I've honestly been bracing myself for us to just trade whatever amount of picks it takes to get James Harden and move Vince to the 3. Either that or for some reason, Joe Johnson keeps popping in my head for 2010 and move vince to the 3 again. Note: JJ isn't exactly what I want, it's just the name I keep seeing when I think about our plans because I agree with VC4P that we're not getting a big 3 name.

I would actually love to get the Knicks unprotected pick from Utah along a couple other young players especially CJ Miles (who I said we should have signed to an offer sheet last year). He is averaging 9.7/2.3/1.7 while shooting 47.6%/39.3%/83% at the age of 21. His contract is worth 3.7 million every year for the next 4 years.
The Jazz would probably not be able to do this sort of thing financially though.

Re: Vince Carter trades
Joe Johnson is exactly the type of player I am speaking of.
He is the top of the tier 2 or the very bottom of tier one and he is going to turn 30 during a contract signed in the 2010 off season.
You will be paying this guy max money on a 5 year deal, or worse yet a 6 year deal.
He will be beyond his prime and on the decline for AT LEAST the final 2 seasons of a 5 year contract, let alone a 6 if we got him through a S&T.
There just aren't many attractive options outside the top 4 guys if you are signing someone to a deal longer than 3 years and we all know these guys are looking at their last big deals, so they will want 5 years.
Bah.

Why would you think of trading VC at this time. Playing way too well to even consider it. If anything, hold everything up until the trade deadline, and see where the team stands then.

Re: Vince Carter trades
I don't know if we should move Vince, to tell you the honest truth guys. He's still a great player and the back court on this team, in my eyes, is pretty damn lethal. The Nets should be looking into top name free agent forwards for 2010 instead of hoping for something that more then likely will never happen (Lebron moving anywhere, including NJ). Let Harris and Carter continue to put up some of the best numbers in the league in comparison to other backcourts. Both are leaders who lead by example, and are worthy of being kept as long as they continue to produce efficiently.
