Wait we traded Yi? When did that happen.
I can't wait to see RJ slashing to the hole and dunking on fools.

Darko makes 7M this year and 7.5M next. No way you can include him unless you're adding other pieces on the Bucks end.

Re: 1/12: Woelfel: Conley deal waiting for Herb approval
I compared Mike Conley to Tony Parker prior to Conley's draft, and I think that is still a good 'ceiling' projection. Their rookie numbers are quite similar. People expecting Conley to turn into Nash or Billups are going to be dissapointed.
If this goes down, I wish Sessions the best of luck in Memphis. He should be a good fit there.
I think if we get a pick it will be a second rounder. Memphis isn't going to give us an unprotected lottery pick. Their early second rounder is just as valuable as a late first. Maybe more-so, as the contract wouldn't be guaranteed.

Re: 1/12: Woelfel: Conley deal waiting for Herb approval
I actually wouldn't mind Darko either. I think he'd be a decent compliment to Bogut and he has turned into a pretty good defensive player.
My only real solace here (not a big fan of the deal) is the Mo Williams trade. I hated the Mo Williams trade, but it's hard to argue that it hasn't had a positive impact. I think we are better with Ridinour that Mo. Hoefully the same happens with this deal.
Also I agree with the queen. Conley didn't exactly have the most awesome cocahes or environment to learn in. I think coming to a team that has good chemistry and a point guard for a head coach might do Conley more good than any of us can understand.

Good point. Tony Parker is another example of a PG who struggled early and went on to become much better. The Spurs wanted to run him out of town early in his career.

Well a protected first and/or Darko for Gadz makes this a good deal for me.

Mbah a Moute makes Alexander expendable.. that's the only reason why they are giving up on him this quick. Alexander will need another couple of years to develop whereas Mbah a Moute is paying dividends for us already.

And it's not like they'd be trading for Danny Schayes. They'd be adding another young, talented player to the mix.

Yep. I also think that they are similar in body type and style of play.

That's a good point. If Ersan ends up back on this team, this move will have cleared the way both playing time wise and financially.
Ersan would be a very good fit with this team... and I think we have a good chance of signing him.

I don't like the deal. I'm guessing that even if a first rounder is the pick included it will be lotto or top 3 protected and at this point that is the direction Memphis is headed. That would leave the deal and Conley for Sessions/JA. Although JA is not playing right now, the times he does play you can see the intensitiy players we have drafted before have lacked. As of this point I view Sessions as a better PG than Conley. In my eyes, both teams are traded for these players' potentials, but we are trading 2 players and they are trading 1 and if I had to bet I would go with one of Sessions or JA panning out over Conley.

While trading one young and talented player and one young unknown.
This trade only works out for the Bucks if Conley is the best player of the three (or we get a first and that player ends up being the best) and he ends up being a long-term fixture on this team.

Re: 1/12: Woelfel: Conley deal waiting for Herb approval
This deal sucks plain and simple. We're trading away a point guard who is better than Conley at this point, who is only in his second year, and has potential to be our starter for a long time. Not to mention we're throwing in a top 10 pick who we have not allowed to develop at all. I hate this deal and I will be very disappointed if Hammond pulls the trigger on this.
For once I hope to God that Kohl voids this trade.

Yup. I'm not sure anybody is ignoring the gamble involved here, Luke. I simply believe it's a gamble worth taking. But I may be the biggest Conley fan in this forum.

I hope we don't get Conley and then trade him for Cash.

From a far Conley has done nothing, he can't even regularly start on bad Memphis team. Sessions is farther along in development and still young, but im not sure how high his ceiling is. Hammond knew that JA was going to be a project player, but has a lot of up side with his athleticism and work ethic. I personally don't pull the trigger, the bucks need a PF not a pg especially one who is not proven and has shown less than all the pgs on our roster.

Re: 1/12: Woelfel: Conley deal waiting for Herb approval
While I think Alexander is expendable, that doesn't mean I would like him given away.
I have to say it, but what would a Sessions/Brook Lopez package bring back right now. Far more than Conley IMO.
This is a lateral move at the moment, I understand the future contract implications, but right now this move doesn't do too much for us.
Plus, moving our two best trading chips (besides CV) and not bringing back a frontcourt player is concerning. Hopefully Hammond still has another deal to bring us back some size.

This trade does nothing for me. Its not going to make us better or make us worst this year. Conley has not shown anything. Blahhhhh. Its a risky move. Plus I am not going to get excited about Ersan coming back. He is not going to make us better either.

If we're trading away two of our most valuable prospects, I want something more than Mike Conley in return.

Re: 1/12: Woelfel: Conley deal waiting for Herb approval
I'm sure Hammond is still trying to get the PF he seeks. But if he really likes Conley I don't think he should wait around hoping he can turn Sessions and/or Alexander into a PF. Make the move(s) you want to make and then keep looking at ways to improve the team. I wouldn't want Hammond to pass on a deal he likes because he's hoping to land a PF.
