Re: OT - Fire Danny
Just take a look at this past offseason.
When no players were willing to sacrifice money to chase a ring, Danny had to settle for POB, TA, and Eddie House.
Everyone thought Danny did a great job 2 offseasons ago by getting Posey, House, but it wasn't some mastermind maneuvering that Danny did to get these guys....the presence of the Big 3 was the biggest factor.
Danny Ainge's best move as GM was trading for Toine and getting GP back and trading Jiri Welsch for a 1st rounder.

Putting aside the idea that Roy + LaFrentz could have been thrown in the trade and we pretty much break even (Minnesota winds up getting a better deal, maybe we keep Gomes or a draft pick)
Putting aside that getting Ratliff's contract in the deal serendipitously wound up being useful a year later...
Putting those things aside, how do we justify giving up a #7 pick in exchange for a former #13 pick who was a bust so far, and to shave one year off of LaFrentz's contract? More importantly, HOW DID WE NOT GET ANOTHER DRAFT PICK OUT OF THE DEAL? When Portland is flush with #1's they purchase every year and had an excess of overseas prospects?? For instance, why couldn't Portland have purchased the Rondo pick and sent it to us as part of this deal?
Honestly, you could even argue that we should've squeezed the next year's #1 out of Portland in that deal and gotten Oden/Durant! Maybe that's going a little far, but still.
But seriously, Ainge grossly overpaid when he wanted to dump that pick; instead of picking up some extra picks to make it out, he basicaly told Portland "keep the change." And meanwhile, he overpaid for low pick to get Rondo. In both cases, the results turned out great, but we should have paid cash for Rondo instead of trading a useful pick, and we should have netted extra picks in the Telfair deal - both of which would come in really handy for our depth problems this year.
You could argue that anything extra we got would've gotten tossed in the KG deal and it would be a wash, which may be true; but that doesn't mean that Danny didn't horribly fail to maximize his return on the Telfair deal and minimize his expense on the Rondo deal.

Danny Ainge is a genius.....
....because 2 people said "OK".....
McHale: "Mr. Taylor, it's time to rebuild and go young, time to trade Big Ticket."
Glenn Taylor: "OK, I trust you Kevin, just like with Joe Smith...I trust you with Ticket"
McHale: "Ticket, we're thinking of rebuilding and so we are thinking about trading you to Boston, they just got Ray Allen, what do you say Ticket?"
Big Ticket: "OK"

What you're not getting is that Danny had acquired the CHIPS to make this happen.
KG didn't even want to come here at first. Danny had the chips to get Ray, and STILL had enough chips left over to make a good offer for KG. KG may have wanted to go to Boston after we got Ray, but unless we had Al + quality players + expiring contract + picks to exchange, KG would have ended up a Laker or whatever.
Getting all those chips wasn't just dumb luck. It takes a lot of planning to do that. If it was that easy to do, a lot more teams would go from 24 wins to 66 wins in 1 offseason.

Re: OT - Fire Danny
Except Danny Ainge's plan wasn't to get KG it was to tank for Oden or Durrant.
Missing out on the 1st or 2nd pick and Pierce threatening for a trade forced Danny's hand to act.

He built up for last offseason, whether you think it was for the draft or fa period isn't relevant. Seriously, what happened to you that the guy who finally brought the C's their title has you this upset?
