You guys aren't scared.

Post#1 » by vinnycorleone » Mon Jan 12, 2009 7:13 pm

What's up guys. Yes I'm a Laker's fan.

I've read a bunch of you guys say that you are more afraid of the Spurs and Cavs than you are of the Lakers.

I was wondering what makes you guys so confident against us? Is it a match-up? Is it sheer pride? Hate for the Lakers? Or you guys just think you own us.

As a fan of the NBA. I'll say as a Laker's fan I'm worried when it comes to the Spurs/Cavs/Celtics/Hornets(even though we kinda own them).

Simple. The Lakers lack CONSISTENT physical toughness and shutdown defense.

They have a bunch of very talented guys but Odom, Walton, Sasha and company just don't make people shake in their boots. We feel like when we're on our game we can handle them.

To add to that, LeBron is a much more threatening physical presence than Kobe. Kobe is an excellent player of course but he just doesn't put the fear in you like Bron coming down the lane taking no prisoners.

How can we be scared? You guys didn't even dominate the last game; you pulled away (with the help of our turnovers and the refs) the last 2 mins. It wasn't even a blowout and you played at home. Maybe its the fact that your team is not consistent enough to beat us in a 7 game series. Also would you get scared of a team that you've blowned out in the finals by 39pts (never happened before in the NBA)? That's my point....inconsistent.

I would be scared if you guys beat us at home by more than 15 the next game which i doubt.

The Champs fear no team. That said, anyone who doesn't respect the Lakers as one of the top challenges in the NBA is just biased.

I think the Lakers are very formidable, and if there is a rematch in the Finals, it's going to be a lot closer than last year.

I'm personally not too afraid of the Spurs, because I don't think they'll make it out of the West. However, I do fear the Cavs a bit more than the Lakers only because the Celts have to get through them in the East. If the Cs can advance past them, then I'll start worrying about the Lakers. If the Cavs and Lakers swapped rosters, than yeah, I'd probably fear Kobe and co. more, only because they'd be facing us first.

Heck, at this point, I might even fear the Magic and the Hawks more than I do the Lakers. Again, it has nothing to do with the teams, but rather, the order in which we'll be facing the opponents.

Personally, even if we had to play the Lakers first, I'm more afraid of the Cavs.

If I had to choose between Lebron and Kobe + Bynum + Gasol, I'm taking Lebron.

WOW your going to start this up again?
If all fails then keep pointing back to what happened last year in the finals.
If you havent noticed you guys arent the same team as last year.
You dont have Posey or P.J, your bench isnt producing and you guys arent playing in with the same intensity as last year, and that was last year, this is this year.
A lot has happened to both teams since last year.

And by the way if you havent noticed the Lakers are consistant this year and they are pretty good on Defense which is another thing you guys like to keep on pointing out, but whatever makes you feel better.

And you keep falling back to the, "Like OMG last year doesn't matter! We beat you on Christmas see - hahahah we're the best," argument.

But hey, whatever makes you feel better.

I'm with Tony.

For all our inconsistency...you guys have just as much. Get a point guard who can shoot than talk.

Be Afraid.

Will that be before or after you guys get a point guard that can penetrate? The only one on your team that can do that is Kobe.

Give me a break. Get a point guard period before you start knockin Rondo, Fish is a decent player but he is another 2 playing the 1. What's he average, 3 or 4 assists? Rondo is second among guards in field goal % at 51%, runs a line of 11pt/5rb/8ast and is 3rd in the league for steals. I respect the Lakers, but the advantage at the point is definitely for the Celtics. As for the inconsistency, well we're in the same boat on that one right now for sure. No one should be trash talking too much this early in the season. I also forgot to mention that Rondo is only 22.
