It's funny to see how simple it is for us to win or lose. We play hard and defend, we win. We come out and play lackadaisacal, we lose. It's really that simple. I can stop watching the games midway through the first quarter and tell you who is going to win, based solely on our intensity and body language. I fully expect to lose all 3 of these away games. Hopefully, we'll go on a prolonged losing streak and realize we aren't talented to win without maximum effort. Maybe that will wake this team up.

Wishful thinking of course but I think if the Hawks come out running they can win tonight. If they try to play the half court game against these guys its going to be a long night. Go Hawks!

This is the first time we've had our backs up against the wall this year and faced some adversity. I'm looking forward to seeing how this team responds.

Just run pick and roll with bibby and Josh Smith, watch Amare refuse to ever step out and let those two score 35 points each. defensively...gonna be tough. Marvin/Eveans will match up well against Hill/Barnes, Bibby is giong to have to step out on Nash as he has been losing shooters off the ball lately, Josh is going to ahve to respect Amares midrange game, but he and Josh will match up well as Amare is not a strong back to the basket player. Shaq will decimate anyone on the court that will guard him so you are going to have to get him in foul trouble. Joe/Rich....pretty even there. Really...

If I was Woody, I would have left Joe on the bench in the fourth quarter. He has been struggling lately but tonight was the first time he really hurt the team.

I thought we fought hard tonight and lost to the better team in their house. If we can bring the same effort that we showed in the final three quarters tonight against GSW we'll be fine.

Wow, the Hawks came out and didn't try hard in the first quarter and lost again? Shocking!!!!!!

COme on now. getting beat isn't a sign of not trying hard. they were trying hard in the first quarter. they weren't hitting some open shots and phoenix was hitting there. They still forced turnovers, they were still hustling and working hard...Phoenix just simply outplayed the starters. Marvin didn't get a shot, Josh started out 1-7, Joe was horrible, Bibby was horrible. The only starter that came out good was Zaza. Acie, and Flip scored some points to start the second, and things picked up.

Is it just me or did Josh Smith clearly have at least 3 blocks tonight? He got credited with none. But I know for sure he blocked 1 shaq dunk, one amare drive and one nash layup. I want to say he had 5 but I can't exactly remember the last 2.

I think that its just a particularly tough matchup without Horford. Shaq is one of those guys that is going to cause problems for anyone on the Hawks front line but hopefully Horford could get some cheap points beating him back down the court.

I'll also say that the Clippers game is actually a pretty decent matchup for the Hawks. I could see Zaza giving Kaman some trouble. Baron isn't the kind of PG that Bibby has no chance against. I can't really see Gordon seeing the floor very much against Joe Johnson. Smith should even be able to do some damage against Randolph on offense. And it will be highly entertaining to see Marvin vs Thornton- I couldn't tell you at all how thats going to go.

I think Baron and Kaman are still out with injuries, Thornton and Gordon may go off however. The hawks should have white tape on thier jerseys, since I don't even know who these guys are anymore. They haven't done "s" in 09 so far.
Where the offseason has more buzz happens.

Rip - you were watching a different game than me, because I didn't see one bit of defensive intensity from our regulars (again) until we fell in a huge hole. It's just amazing to me that some of these young kids don't play with defensive intensity. We're not talented or experienced enough to beat people without maximum effort. Anybody. We will lose to the **** Clippers tonight if we play like we've been playing the last few weeks. I"m a little bitter right now, and probably not thinking rationally...

Baron Davis, Chris Kaman, and Zach Randolph are all out. Ricky Davis is questionable. If the Hwaks lose this they should be ashamed of themselves.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
