These 2 players would fit nicely here in MN.

I'd like to target Charlie Villanueva in a sign and trade. He would work great next to Al Jefferson and Kevin Love. Jefferson would get his 36 minutes per game and the remaining minutes spread between Love and Villanueva + Madsen etc.

The other player I'd like to get is Luther Head.

What do we have to offer to get them - I was thinking of Collins expiring for Villanueva + another player. We'd probably have to give up Smith or Gomes - but not if they are trying to clear space for 2009 FA signings
In a separate deal can we use our TPE for Head?

One last player that I think would improve greatly under McHale's tutelage would be Josh Boone from New Jersey however I like Villanueva much more.
I've been a fan since the beginning and I will be until my end.

If you want to get CV for Collins the Bucks would probably want the Wolves to take on Gadzuric. Now I see you want it to be a sign and trade. The Wolves wouldn't be able to trade Collins at that point. Also his main problems are defense and staying motivated. I would rather have a guy with no offense but plays hard on D. You bring up a guy just like that: Boone. I have always been a fan of trading for Boone. I am not a fan of Head but I guess trying him out for the rest of the year wouldn't be a bad idea.

Really? I LOVE Head :eyebrows:

But seriously the only player of those 3 that i would want is Boone. Villy is NOT the kind on player i want here. He is just another PF. and Head, while i like him, he wouldnt do anything short or long term to make much of an impact here.

^ Ha I knew I would be setting up someone by saying that.

A player I think the Wolves should go after via trade is Julian Wright.

haha, it was there and i couldnt help myself. I was reading John Hollingers latest chat and he talked about NOH and how they should deal Wright for some size up front. I think Craigers could help them but BYC makes it difficult. not sure if Gomes could get Wright.

But with Brewer likely splitting time btwn 2-3 and the very likely situation of letting Carney walk at seasons end, i think Wright could help us if we can get a solid 3 before the deadline or in the offseason.

If Carney keeps up his play, do you think they'll let him walk?

Actually, the player I like the most of the 3 is Josh Boone - I didn't think many other people really took notice of him. I thought I would get the WTF's from you guys so I snuck his name in there. He only gets 15-20 min. per game in New Jersey. We could use him closer to 25 minutes here. He would give us some length in the middle and some potential to be a decent overall player in this league once his offense skills are developed. He looks lfairly athletic.

I still think Luther Head is worth looking at.

I thought Villanueva would bring some toughness to the inside - guess not.

Absolutely in the realm of possibility. If we can sign him for cheap, like we did with Telfair/Craigers/Gomes, then they might and should consider re-signing him. But i think with Brewer coming back, being our own 1st round pick, they odds are against Carney returning. Just ask Kirk Snyder.

I am completely against acquiring Charlie V. I'll admit I haven't seen enough of his play to be credible here but from what I did see he's a shorter more versatile Mark Blount. He doesn't play defense and he's ANOTHER PF. If you'd like him because of his shooting ability I think that will develop in KLove. Boone is interesting but I'd rather just wait until this offseason and try to get pekovic over here. I really haven't seen much of his play but they say he would've been about a #14 pick if not for the contract issues. If not him I'd just rather go for a defensive big in the draft. Mid-late first would be about right to pick one up to pick up the defensive slack for Love and Al. Luther head would be nice but again, we have multiple first round picks this year and I'd love to spend one on a tall PG that would fit well w/foye at the SG position. Somebody also talked about getting Julian Wright. He's really athletic and plays good D. Those are 2 things we really need on this team. He does have lot's of potential but he's almost a liability on offense from what I've seen. I haven't watched him this year but last year it seemed his offense was directly related to chris paul with the oops and such. I think I'd pass for now, as he seems kind of redundant with Carney playing so well. Once the offseason roles around and we know our draft status we can talk about Wright.
