Nash to Raptors rumor surfaces

Post#1 » by Gorilla Warfare » Thu Jan 15, 2009 10:40 pm

Suns would trade Nash, Leandro Barbosa, and Robin Lopez for Jose Calderon, Andrea Bargnani, Anthony Parker, Jason Kapono, and maybe even Jamario Moon as cap filler.

What are your thoughts on this? I don't know what to think of this. This would be a HUGE shake up in our lineup.

I hope it’s just a rumor my mom who’s a huge Nash and Suns fan would be depressed and I wouldn’t know how to tell her.
But reading the article I don’t take my Phoenix news from a guy in Chicago to often so this is probably just a rumor.

I don't find any truth in it either, I just thought I would post it because it made the wiretaps. But if that was to happen that would be HUUUUGE...not in a good way, at least not this season.

This was a Sam Smith fabrication, picked up by AZCentral a few days ago, picked up by EVT yesterday, and now on RealGM's ticker.

Anyone know an assassin we can hire out to "take care" of Sam Smith and his journalistic abuse of rumor pushing?

I promise it won't happen.

I think this would be a really good trade for the suns because Terry Porter wants to run a Half_court system and steve nash is a fast break player. Jose Calderon is Half-Court point guard and can set up people for good shots like kapono getting open looks because teams like to double team SHAQ and AMARE Stoudemire

Haha is this Steve Kerr? Did he register an account? Haha j/k

If this happens, the fans will riot.

Trading the centerpiece of this franchise over the last 5 years would be crazy.

But u for got something, Steve Nash was the franchise player but they are trying to make Amare Stoudemire the new frnchise player because Steve Nash is getting older and will have to retire in around 3 years and Stoudemire has way more years to play than nash

I could see this trade if our record was 0-35 and Nash was averaging less than 5 assists/game, thereby showing that he was unable to run an offense at his age.

We are 22-13 and Nash is as good of a floor captain as ever, AND Barbosa is hot and a huge boost off the bench. Rarely have I seen a 22-13 team make such a ridiculous, huge trade.

Sam Smith again

http://www.azcentral.com/members/Blog/PaulCoro/43563

There's been a surprising amount of buzz about bulls.com writer Sam Smith's column mentioning a Steve Nash trade to Toronto. Anyone who has read Smith regularly over the years at the Chicago Tribune knows that this was Smith playing GM, a job he does as well as any writer. There aren't actual talks going on between Phoenix and Toronto. Smith always has been great at getting fans, and executives, thinking about possible deals by throwing out his suggestions and framing them as good for both teams. But that doesn't mean the Suns are going to trade Nash. Not at all. If anything, they are considering extending his contract.

The Suns won't trade Nash, they'll let him walk at the end of next season or they'll sign him for the rest of his career. But they won't trade him.

But it's Steve Nash's decision where he wants to go when he is a free agent.
1. Stay in Phoenix
2. Go to Canada and Play for the Raptors
3. Go to the Knicks and play with Mike D'antoni again.

This rumour is stupid. Raptors would never do this trade. That's 60% of their starting lineup and their 6th man for an aging Nash, Not to mention Bargnani has been averaging about 23+ points in his last 9 games.

no way that trade is happening... bargnani is killing it showing promise that ultimately made him that #1 pick, future all-star centre.. a gasol with much better range

They can try as hard as they want but Amare Stoudemire as of now is in NO WAY a franchise player. Not even close. Stoudemire in a mediocre team without Nash or Shaq would see his numbers drop considerably. Right now he's not a franchise player, no matter how hard the Suns try to make him one.
