He's like, what 30? That's not bad at all. Just hope it doesn't hurt us signing Tommie Harris(which I doubt it will)

Edit: I also think he will benefit from playing next to Tommie Harris. Everyone does.

without knowing the Bears Cap issues, you wonder if Tank Johnsons legacy (Darwin Walker) is costing the Bears any chance to resign Lance Briggs

I'm also wondering if this move was more public relations than an actual signing.

The Bears cut ties with Tank and if he happens to succeed somewhere the Chicago media will be on their behinds due to the early circumstances in the release.

In a year or so the Bears can say, "We had a legit replacement and he(fill in the blank; got injured, didn't work out, Dusty didn't emerge, etc)."

They will feel like they are in clear, when us fans will be pissed if the DT hole doesn't get filled this year.

Again, walker is good. A REALLY good "push" lineman. Gets into the backfield. Good guy too. Solid citizen type. has Chicago ties.

Gooood signing

We are not going to resign Briggs after this year...that is almost guaranteed.

Walker is a nice signing...he is probably better than Tank.

walker is an upgrade over tank, he's just older and more expensive. But he is better and that is a nice contract for a DT nowadays. YOu see what the lions gave an above average DT? like 7 m a year. Harris will get near 9m for sure.

Well if you guys are vouching for Walker then I'm with ya. I've never seen him play, or I don't remember, but hopefully he works out.

Nice signing. Walker seems like a good fit as a 1 gap DT especially alongside a guy like Tommie who can draw double teams all game long.

...and Angelo has never planned on re-signing Briggs given his contract wishes. He just franchised him to give Williams and Okwo another year of experience before they have to take over. We're not going to tie up that much money in one position (along with Urlacher) which is a smart move. Briggs is very good but overrated.

Can the Briggs is overrated stuff please stop? He isn't, he is an elite weakside linebacker, if anything he is underrated with so many people thinking he is overrated and a product of the system/playing next to Urlacher. How many weakside backers in this league are better? MAYBE Keith Bulluck....anyone else? Anyone else close? The guy is dominating at his position against the run and the pass. He never leaves the field.

We can't afford to sign him long term most likely because we need to hold on to Tommie Harris but Lance Briggs is the real deal.
