Referees Can't Call Jack

Post#1 » by Sun Scorched » Fri Jan 16, 2009 6:57 am

Really this isn't in response to the Suns vs. Nuggets game, it's more a response to the refs refusing to call close games.

I know that in past DECADES the refs haven't called anything. They've said, "Let them play." Look it up and question me.

The issue I have is refs refusing to call close games at the buzzer for fear of scrutiny.

Grant Hill was CLEARLY foulded on the last play of regulation. No call. This, my friends, is an issue.

It frustrates me as a fan of the Suns.

It frustrates me as a fan of the NBA.

Referees have one job. It is to ensure the sanctity of the game... they aren't doing it.

Stern needs to go. Jackson needs to go. We need a new era. Period.

I don't think the contact on Hill warranted a foul call. NBA needs a clear and convincing rule.

I thought Hill got tripped? Jones extended his leg pretty far and tripped him.

No it definitely warranted a call.

Nene: Jumped in caused contact. Hit Grant's arm. AND was in the restricted area.

That's a foul.

Suns just seem to always have terrible luck.

It's funny how other night Jason Terry barely touched Billups with his leg at the end of the game and was called for a foul. Tonight Hill had all this contact and they didn't call sh*t.

Refs need to man up and call an obvious foul, some do and some don't but they all need some form of consistency.

They just dont like to call a foul when the game is on the line. That's why you barely see them blow the whistle in the final moments cuz they dont like a game being decided on free throws. I think it's b.s what what can we do?

The problem that I have is, that they are very inconsistant. The night before when the Lakers and Spurs where playing, they called a fould on Derek Fisher when it was clearly that Roger Mason leaned into Fisher. A couple of nights ago, they called a foul in the closing seconds when Chuancy Billups kicked out his leg and made contact with Jason Terry. They called foul on Jason Terry. The only thing that they both have in common is that the Spurs and Nuggets where hosting both games.

Shouldn't a foul at home and a foul away from home be the same? That's the problem I have with the NBA and the refs. Why is it that a foul in the regular season not the same in the post season? Overall, the Nuggets did out hustle us and deserved to win the game but I'm dissoppointed because we should of won the game.

The reason I am hesitant to say a foul call was warranted is because Hill could easily have been called for charging by some overzealous ref. With minute subjectivity the NBA has introduced into the game, rational calls are impossible.
