Bass, did you really just try to use Dwight Howard as the example for how a big guy can develop the skills he needs to stick in the league but build is the determining factor as to whether they bust out or not? NBA players bust whether they lack skills or physicals. Alexis is 20 he has freakish vitals but incredible fundamentals for someone that hasn't been playing the game very long and had his minutes limited because of the tendency european basketball coaches have to play vets.

DJ has more potential that Chalmers, but Brook and DJ are pretty similar as far as upside goes, no matter who we picked, we'd still have holes in the roster and you'd be typing about how we should've taken the other instead of this big stiff from Stanford that doesn't compliment Okafor and crowds his space (cept you wouldn't, because you think Mek is total garb). On top of it, you'd complain that we had a potentially marketable player in DJ waiting to fall into our laps and instead took this guy that sounds like a mongoloid. I'm surprised you didn't invent a time machine yet so you can come back from the future and let us all know that we actually should've been discussing how we missed out on Bayless who ended up being a 3 time MVP.

Look. We get it. Bobcats have drafted terribly. Okafor over Iguodala/Childress/Josh Smith, Felton over Bynum, May over Granger/Lee/a guy with a pulse, the Morrison debacle, not holding on to Brandan Wright, Jared Dudley over Aaron Brooks AND Carl Landry. Inevitably, there will be someone we aren't ever mentioning that will be better than DJ or Alexis that we could've taken...but please, I'm actually begging here because you're crushing my spirit as a poster--come up with a new schtick.

I questioned the Felton/May picks and then we took Ammo, so I started to post on realgm to see if I was on Mugatu's crazy pills or if there was some consensus that this was a bad pick. Outside of a few hopefuls and Steve, everyone thought it was a bad pick with better players on the board. It was established on that day that we are a legitimately bad franchise where drafting was concerned. This is why we punted our 07 lottery pick--the cost of failure was too high. This is why Paydro and I joke about being on suicide watch during the drafts.

A new regime is in place. There is light at the end of the tunnel, because these guys are going to bust terribly or be above average. No more mediocrity. but srsly no more past draft talk or I'm docking points.

When the broadcasters say he can jump out of the gym do you guys take it literal and think he can leave the building by jumping? His max vertical is listed on draftexpress and Im guessing it is around 40 or so if not more. I think 42 is the nba record.

Westbrook is being overhyped because he is putting up good stats on the surface on a terrible team. If you take a look at Westbrooks stats he is putting up 14 points on 41% from the field and 30% from 3 point land. He is grabbing 4.9 assists but also 3. turnovers. He isnt a real point guard, but a combo guard without a jumpshot. He is a nice defender, but he won't be in the discussion for all star given the amount of guards that are/will be much better than him. Also- Westbrook has a 36.5 max vertical, not 80, not even 40 and that is less that Derrick Rose, OJ Mayo, Jerryd Bayless, Eric Gordon, and George Hill and only an inch better than DJ.

Brook Lopez should make an all star game or two as a default backup C. Lopez was a steal for the Nets, and I think if Bobcats could redo their draft then they would take Lopez and Chalmers instead of Agustin and Ajinca.

Take out his rookie shakes (and poor coaching/use of him) and over the past month and in 14 games,
Westbrook is averaging:

17.3 pts
4.6 rebounds
6.3 assists
1.3 steals
3.4 turn overs

and he's doing that on 47% shooting from the floor and 75% from the line. He's also hitting 40% from down town on almost 1.5 attepts per game.

If you don't think he is the real deal, you are kidding yourself.

Also, his vert has officially just been upgraded to 87".

I could have swore you were talking about Raymond Felton for a moment there.
