Stevenson bails out on his bill at the bar?

Post#1 » by Wizards2Lottery » Fri Jan 16, 2009 6:47 am

Sorry if this has been posted, but I came across this on the Skins forum. Some dude posted this about Blatche, Stevenson and company:

Default Deshawn Stevenson is a punk ass litte *****
So I held off talking about this in case he made good but he's not going to so I figured now would be a good time. Blatche, Stevenson and several other Wizards used to frequent a night club/bar that my gf works at until about a month ago. That's when Stevenson's ***** ass decided to walk out on an $870 tab and none of them have shown their faces there since and they've been ducking calls from the management/ownership of the bar. Now my gf has to pay this loser's tab.

It's bad enough you ****ing suck at basketball, it's bad enough you talked all that **** and then brought NOTHING in the playoffs last year but it's good to know your a lowlife loser piece of ****, too. You're a ****ing millionaire and you walk out on a girl trying to make a modest living while going to college and leave her to pay your tab. **** you Deshawn Stevenson.

I doubt someone would make this story up. This is a really awful move on the part of Stevenson and Blatche. The fact that the college girl working to make a living has to pay close to 1000 bucks for the idiocy of multi millionares is terrible. Books for two semesters worth classes cost a 1000 bucks and this innocent female has to pay it for Stevenson to live his lavish lifestyle. As far as I'm concerned, this is an absolute bitch move by Stevenson.

If anyone from the Wizards organization is reading this, please look into this story more and do something to help out the person in need.

no way she has to pay it... embellishment for the story's sake for sure.

Yup, complete BS. Stevenson isn't a nobody. If you're a competent manager, you know where the SOB lives, you know his frikkin employer. Damn, I can tell you where he's gonna be at 7:00pm today. It aint like he's hiding. Make a couple phone calls. That girl aint paying $h!t.

Some places hold the waiter/waitresses liabel for the bill if the customer leaves without paying. It's their duty to ensure the customer has paid the bill before he exits the place. I don't call BS on this story. The guy who posted it is already working on taking it to the media and radio broadcast. If it was a load of crap, no one would try this much, especially over a nobody athlete like Stevenson.

Some places might try to do such a thing, but I'm sure it's unenforceable.

Thanks, though there have been many coffee-spitting one-liners over the years, especially by daSwami and Donkey.

It's enforceable to the extent they just take it out of her paycheck. She's not going to get a lawyer over $800, so she is stuck. Even if she quits and gets another job, she is still out the money.

I did a little google-fu on this issue. It seems that you are right. Most states are right to work states meaning the owner can pretty much negotiate anything into a work contract provided they pay at least minimum wage and comply with all the usual OSHA regulations and such.

Waitresses are generally paid just $2.00 an hour. It would take the owner a while to recoup his losses by docking her pay. The waitress probably could get out of most of the payment by quitting - but who wants to quit a job in this economy?

^^ Again, I'm not seeing the issue here. Why doesn't the manager just call up the organization and complain to his employer. Threaten to take it to the media. You're making a waitress pick up the tab? That's one p***y manager.

+1

I'm only surprised it wasn't Swami who came up with it

edit to add - agree with JWiz. Mgmt should do a little leg work and make them pay.

This story sounds like a complete fabrication.

I'm tempted to drop a line to my acct rep with the wiz and give him
a heads up. Just to let them know the story's out there. They can
determine the truth of it and take appropriate action if necessary.

I obviously have no way of knowing if the story is true but if it is,
the Wiz oughta do something about it. I'm betting they have that
capability (contractually).

Keep in mind the dude does later go on to say that his GF neglected to get Stevenson's CC number up front, which is why she is being held responsible for the check.

Obviously doesn't excuse Deshawn not paying, but perhaps it was more of a missunderstanding.
