I just thought MIN might have some interest in POB as a young, true center they could play some minutes next to their 2 big time power forwards (i still dont see Al as a center)
If Mccants could be re-signed at the end of the season without cutting into the MLE, id definately give up just about anyone on the bench for him.. he would instantly be the go to guy for the bench unit and could really help out a sometimes stagnant group
then next season, re-sign him to a reasonable contract and sign sheed with the MLE

Re: BOS - MIN
1. I object to giving up on 22 year old Patrick O'Bryant.
His three biggest problems are:
a. Strength, which will come in the weight room over the next two years
b. Fouls, which will be minimized thru knowledge, technique, strength and experience
c. Turnovers, which should go down over the next two years
I think that it would be a big mistake to give up on him,
even though he likely won't contribute at all this season and not much next.
I am solidly into waiting until at least the 2011 season before making a decision
(requires re-sgning him in the summer of 2010,
but hey, he's on a minimum salary contract now).
2. Giddens has the quicks for SG, size at 6' 4", and may be slow learner.
So, he's a guy that it would be dangerous to give up on
unless something really essential to this season or next came along.
3. I was a fan of Rashad McCants when he was at North Carolina.
In the NBA, he's 6' 2.75" pre-draft height makes him
somewhat challenged defensively with the bigger shooting guards.
He's not the strongest guy, compared to say Giddens or Tony Allen,
although he does have a shot.
My intial reaction is too much is being given up for him.
And, like I already said, defensively he has problems with the better players.
Giddens could be as good defensively as Tony Allen,
who is the Celtics best one on one defender (averaged over a bunch of possessions).
Actually, KG is, but he helps out so much on defense he trails a few Celtics
in individual success statistically.

Would rather just play Giddens and Walker over mccants. Plus, Losing POB just make us smaller up front. Makes zero sense.

Re: BOS - MIN
Thanks for all the good feedback guys. Often when I build a trade proposal and drop it on a board, most of the responses are rude, provide no feedback, and generally accuse me of trying to rip the other team off. My goal is to create trades that help both teams get nearer to their goals, to find win-win deals. I appreciate your responses.
I think there is a lot of promise in my current deal, but it sounds like you guys are concerned with giving up both prospects, and I think the problem on the MIN side would be getting Taylor to do the deal when he has to spend money to buy out players (particularly a free one!). Maybe the way to make it more amenable to both sides is for you guys to keep Giddens and toss in cash instead. I understand you like the promise of Walker, but I think he needs to be in the deal for it to be a competitive offer for McCants .. otherwise some other team would outbid you. Maybe keeping Giddens would appeal to some of the posters, where you still keep something for the future, but you pump up the bench to help a drive for another ring this year?
McCants + Ollie (vet min) + 2009 BOS 1st for Walker + POB + Cassell + BOS 2010 1st + $2 mil
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/t ... &cash=16:2
MIN uses the cash to buy out Booth and Cassell, and you keep Sam I Am on as a coach, and they look to FA for a PG. BOS gets a 6th-7th man off the bench for offense, experience and insurance at back-up PG, and with the slot created, you sign a vet-min free agent center. You hold onto Giddens, but your bench is much stronger at three positions for the play-offs.

Minnesota is 11 and 20 something and they don't even play McCants anymore. Ollie might not be a bad player to have but ( and this might not have anything to do with him) minny did go on a 5 game winning streak right after he went down with an injury.
Yeah, I was fond of this idea until I did a little more reading about McCants. Check out the MN board. They are saying his BBIQ is only slightly better than Gerald Green. He's supposedly a real dumb basketball player. Do we need another Gerald Green or Tony Allen?
I'll pass on this idea.
