Is it time to trade Amare?

Post#1 » by MaryvalesFinest » Sat Jan 17, 2009 5:01 am

He's been making headlines on how he wants to "be feared" and "be the man" but he's not doing anything to prove it. He's still playing horrible defense and not rebounding well, he always is letting the bigs from the opposite team go off on him. Last night against the Nuggets K-mart and Nene had there way with Amare and tonight Al Jefferson, Craig Smith and Kevin Love had there way with Amare. You got to admit it's pretty sad that Kevin Love had double the rebounds Amare had tonight.

This isn't just this season but throughout his career, he says he wants to play defense but he's not making an effort on defense or rebounding. If a good defensive PF was playing next to Shaq the Suns would be in alot better shape.

So do you think it's time to trade Amare? If so who would you like to see Amare traded for?

Give it time. He'll be fine. It seems when the Suns lose, we all feel bad and feel we need a trade. I'm sticking to this team, cuz I feel this team can beat the Lakers. Period.

MaryvalesFinest stop f*ckin blaming everything on Amare after every Suns lose. Yeah it's Amares fault that when Suns have a big lead they give it up. It's his fault that our 3's dont fall. It's his fault that Barnes is struggling lately to hit shots. It's his fault that Lopez and Tragic cant play more then 5 minutes a game.

Come on seriously, you've got to be the most impatient Suns fan or any fan ive ever seen in my life. When things go wrong its like death for you and you start this threads about trading Amare and etc.

Dam we all mad bout this loss and just by reading this thread makes me even more pissed off now. Thanx alot for ruining my night.

Even if the Suns won, Amare still would have been outplayed. The guy should be dominating but tonight he just let Kevin Love outrebound him what was it like 14-7? Amare let a rookie grab double the boards. Amare does deserve some credit for when the Suns win but he also needs to step up to the plate, almost every night the opposing bigs outplay him.

Amare is a juggernaut when it comes to offense but he just simply doesn't care bout defense. He says one thing in the newspapers how he will improve but just does opposite on the basketball court.

I just don't like this distractions right now talking about trading him at this moment, I dont see it happening this year but in 2010 is when it might probably happen.

I think when I read the Amare said he is no longer feared- I felt like he really believed the hype that surrounded him. Whats more telling is that he "hopes to be feared again". I dont want to see Amare leave because If he commits to becoming a great player he can do that. I see him take plays off and doesnt even try to rotate to the right player during PnR defense. I think the suns current condition is not all on amare but I expected a lot of things from him last season and this season. I am really disppionted in his game because coming into this season he needed to improve his rebounding, leadership skills, defense, and maturity level and thus far he has left a lot to be desired.

For a moment if the suns do decide to trade him which player can the suns get for him? Its not that trading partners are going to be hard to find but can the suns get better by trading him?

what makes me wonder is when shaq came to this team last yeah he said "this is amares team." now its shaqs team and amare is taking the back seat. terry porter made this shaqs team at 37 years old while amare is 25? this was suppose to be the year amare took over the team from steve nash. i can see amare leaving in 2010 because we will still be running the team threw shaq.

Love had a lot of rebounds because most of the SUNS shots were bouncing off the rim.

I think Amare has not had a lot of fundamental training since he just went straight from HS to the NBA and then with D'Antoni he didn't make players accountable on defense so him being deficient in rebounding and defense is somewhat understandable.
But to be fair at some point Amare is going to have to be accountable and make up in his deficient areas if he wants to be the man on his team.

Amare has regressed....can some of you Stat-admirers atleast admit that ?

I am indifferent when it comes to trading him, for there is no telling what we will receive. His value is still very good, and I am sure some talent/picks would come our way. Whether or not our Front Orfice can structure a deal that ACTUALLY IMPROVES this team is the biggest question mark.

I hesitate about moving him this season though. We would have to receive a starting caliber PF now that the transvestial Diaw has departed. But if we could garner that (a PF) AND a quality PG (plus a good pick or two) I would endorse it and move on. (funny how our core, IMO, has switched to Nash, Shaq, and Hill and their combined 100 yrs)

There is enough offense on this team to comphensate for his scoring, especially if you factor in the pts he gives up. However, I still feel he is a very valuable go-to-guy due to his abilty to get and convert at the line.

Many have grown weary of Amare. Surely, Kerr-ball and co realize his lackadaisical efforts as well. If you believe they are stressing defense, #1 just might find himself on the block.

Amare for Okafor+Felton(add Morrison to make the salaries work)

Nash/Felton
Richardson/Barbosa
Hill/Barnes
Okafor/Amundson
Shaqovic/Lopez

That's a pretty epic 10 man rotation methinks.

^^lolz, Amare and Diaw reunited

On the topic: Realistically, if our plan is to make a deep run in the playoffs this year we gotta trade away at least one of Amare/Nash/J-Rich/Barbs (or a combination of those guys) for a (or some) quality player(s) that plays defense. There's too many all offense/zero D players on the team right now.
Shaq isn't a great defender either, but his trade value is a lot lower then his production value, so there's no point in trading him.

If the plan is to hold out as we are and build around Amare/J-Rich in 2010, we seriously needa start gettin Amare more touches and go back running more Amare/Nash pick n rolls, else he'll bolt.

I agree with the above statement. I'm the biggest Amare Stoudimares fan here in Arizona, I've been analyzing why Amare has regress so much. I remember when Amare was dunking on anybody and everyone who was on his way. The reason why people don't feared Amare is because he's been settleing for jump shots and is being pushed by just about anybody. Amare needs to get back to his roots and that is dunking on everyone he possibly can.

The problem is that he's not able to do roam freely around the paint because of Shaq. As much as I hate to say it, this is Shaq's team. The reason why this is Shaq's team is because of the regression of Amare and Steve Nash play. The Suns need to trade either Amare or Steve Nash for some defensive players.

This is what we need to do asap!

I feel it is. I have a sneaky suspicion that he will jet in10'. I think the Blazers are probably our best trading part, and the Heat.

After talking with Kerr last night personally it looks like he had already planned on trading bell and diaw before the season even started, and after last night I have reason to believe that there will be no more trades for us this year, only making a free agent signing to fill that last roster spot (which he is thinking very highly of Livingston). If anyone is going to be traded this season its going to be Barbs. And if he does get traded I hope its to NY or Portland because I feel they can give us a solid couple players and picks in return.

I think Phoenix loses both of those trades pretty badly. Nash and Amare have more trade value than that.

If we trade Nash to the Bulls we can get Hinrich and Sefolosha easy, maybe even Hinrich and Deng.

Why would we trade a great shooter for Hinrich( guy that cant make any shots). Ive seen Hinrichs game and I'm not impressed. He tends to miss alot of shots so no thanx to him.

His 'talent' on one end of the court is being completely negated and overwhelmed by his incompetence at the other end.
