Bears Players Questions???

Post#1 » by Chi » Thu Aug 2, 2007 11:44 pm

Just questions I have about some of the bears players that I don't know alot about...

1) Is Olsen really the second fastest TE in the league (behind Vernon Davis) I know he's fast but is he really that fast?

2) What happend to Archuleta last season why did he only start 7 games? I thought he was better than that?

3) Who is anthony adams? I just found out he started the whole year last year (San Francisco) is he a capable starter? Man that really makes our bench deep.

4) How good is Dan Buzuin? is he pushing Alex brown and ogunleye? is he even as good as idonije?

5)Does Mike Hass (WR) have a chance at making the team? I've heard he's been catching everything...

6) Who is kevin Payne? I hear the bears are high on him. Can someone give me a description of his game? Fast? hitter? coverage guy? run stopper?

Thanks...

i dont really believe the olsen hype, mostly cuz im still pissed the bears drafted him over poslusny, but he is fast

archuleta just really didnt fit their system, but excelled with lovie in st louis so its not a stretch to think he can do it again

yeah adams started, and with walker now were really deep again

its my understanding that bazuin is 4th on our de chart after brown, ogunleye, and anderson

hass is anyones guess, i hope he makes it i was really high on him coming out of college, im praying either he or david ball make it

payne is pretty crazy athletic but inexperienced, he was a rb until he was a junior, but apparently hes working really hard and impressing a lot of people

Just to throw out some answers:

1. Olsen's ridiculously fast for a guy his size, his 40 time is 4.51(registered at the Combine) and he's actually been doing well against the Bears 1st Defense(which is considered one of the fastest in the league) That's promising.

2. Archuleta didn't fit in the schemes that were played in Washignton, becuase of that he was really exposed in coverage and just suffered. Past game 7(because he was terrible), he got put on special teams only. He did excel with Lovie Smith in St Louis though.

3. Adams was supposed to be our insurance if we had the DT problem again like we had last year. Now he's just crazy depth.

4. Bazuin hasn't done crap in camp becuase of his hamstring(I think) injury and has sat out the most of it. They think he can be a good player because he has a high motor and his stats in college were promising even if they weren't at a top conference.

5. Unless he can contribute in special teams, it's really a toss up. We have so many WRs. The locks are: Muhsin Muhammad, Bernard Berrian, Rashied Davis, Devin Hester and Mark Bradley and it's said we only have about 6 spots for recievers.

6. I honestly don't know much about Payne besides we traded Chris Harris because he's good enough.

1) Yes, Olsen is that fast. He is worth the hype. Check out the practice highlights he looks very fast and has soft hands. He's going to be a big time difference maker. He will keep the changing moving & open up the middle of the field for Cedric Benson.

2) Archuleta was put in a very tough situation.. His strengths as a football player were totally misused. He was a dominant player in the cover2; Lovie has a ton of confidence in him. He will be a monster in the box.

3) Anthony Adams is a pretty solid DT. He was added for depth reasons. He's not really flashy, but is a solid and pretty productive DT. He is a 4-3 DT. San Fran switched to the 3-4 and it was a bad fit. But make no mistake about it he's very solid & will add some nice depth.

4) Bazuin is a high motor guy.. But he's a rookie & is battling and injury and has been struggling.. He's not pushing O-Gun or Alex Brown.. Brown is not a starter anymore (if you didn't know that) Mark Anderson is now going to start opposite of Ogunleye.

5) Hass has been very impressive. All the reports on him is he catches everything in sight whether it's a well thrown ball or not. He's pretty good. I just can't see him making the team although he is probably good enough.

6) Payne is a big time athlete who the staff is pretty much in love with.. He should be a very solid contributer on special teams & down the road could potentially be a starter.. Regardless it looks like a great pick & at the very least he should give us some depth in the secondary for a while.

Why should we have taken Posluszny? Would you have enjoyed watching him on the sidelines this year? Posluszny IMO is a little over rated.

Olsen was a great pick.. We were lucky as hell he was there and you were mad JA pulled the trigger on him? I'm shocked.

Cliff Levingston has been wanting a game breaking type TE since Turner returned to run the offense. He's always said that his offense likes to use the TE over the middle a lot. Desmond Clark had a great season last year but he's not the kind of guy who can stretch the field like Olsen can.

Not to mention that having a great pass catching TE will really help Rex in giving him a nice safety valve when his first two reads are covered.

Nah Hass won't make it. It was the same thing in Saints camp last year. Sure he catches everything, but he can't get any seperation what so ever due to him being as slow as my granny.

If Grossman picks it up, does this team have any weaknesses besides depth on the OL?

I heard somewhere (I forget where) that Archuleta got hurt at some point, and that's the reoson he wasnt as good in washington.

Any chance that's what's held him back? Or is he 100% now, and it was just because of their system?

Benson, peterson, Wolfe

All are just as much a question as Grossman... But with that said no other weaknesses...

System. How many players are paid the amount he was in Washignton and then regulated to special teams duty only?

at draft time briggs was very much an uncertainty and posluszny himself fell a bit to us too. He seemed like a very chicago sports player like guy, hard worker with heart, a pax and skilesy football player if u will. However with okwo and briggs good for the year im ok with the fact that we passed on him now. My second choice during the draft was branch, because of tanks qustions, but now with walker and adams thats a non issue. Ultimately i felt last year that clark did as good a job he could do as rex's tight end. I really dont feel that olson provides the true recieving threat we need, hopefully im wrong though
