Re: Lee ... trade bait of NY
I would do just about everything I could to avoid Curry. I guess if he's part of the trade so that NY can clear his contract (and therefore would be interested in doing the deal), we can bring him in. I don't see us doing anything enormous with our cap room, so maybe taking on a horrible contract so that we can get a good asset (Lee) in return. Although, as good as Lee is, that only continues to exacerbate the log jam of forwards. It's not necessarily that we have a ton of them, it's just that then our best 3 players would play 2 positions, which I'm not a huge fan of (best 4 if we're able to land Griffin in the draft).

It's not just Curry either, I'm here in NY watching Knicks games and I think Lee is overrated. He plays very little defense, can't hit a mid-range jumper, and is a poor passer.

Actually, David is an excellent passer and his mid-range jumper has improved tremendously...so you're way off. His defense isn't too great though so you're right about that. It's more about him being undersized at the center position than anything else though. Dave is the kind of guy who always gives effort from start to finish on both ends of the floor. Bottom line, if the Thunder want Lee without taking Curry, they'd have to give us something very nice. I wouldn't bother asking for Durant...and I'm sure Green and Westbrook are out of the question as well. In that case, maybe your best chance at nabbing Lee is trying to sign him this offseason.
As for the original post, NY might actually accept that trade. As much as I love David Lee, getting out from Curry's contract would be huge for the Knicks. And quite honestly, for a team in a huge transition period like the Thunder, adding Curry really wouldn't hurt you that much. You'd still have a ton of cap space, and Curry is still very young and talented. He just needs to be motivated. If you got anything out of him over the course of the next few years, it would be a huge plus. He can be a dominate scorer, he just needs to get in shape. Adding a young guy like Lee to your already young and talented team may be worth it. Contrary to what someone already posted about your glut at the forward positions, I think he'd be a great fit.
Westbrook
Durant
Green
Lee
Griffin? Thabeet?
You can always turn around and trade one of these guys for a legit center somewhere down the line.

His midrange jumper is a better than last year, but I wouldn't call it consistent. And an excellent passer? No way, he just isn't. Lee is energetic, and he's becoming a leader, but he doesn't have the all around game for the contract he will demand next year.

Knicks center Eddy Curry was slapped with a shocking sex-harassment suit Monday by his former driver, who claims the 6-foot-11 hoopster tried to solicit gay sex from him.
The stunning court papers claim Curry, a married father of three, repeatedly approached chauffeur David Kuchinsky "in the nude," allegedly telling him, "Look at me, Dave, look" and "Come and touch it, Dave."
Curry also made Kuchinsky perform "humiliating tasks outside the scope of his employment, such as cleaning up and removing dirty towels [Curry had ejaculated into] so that his wife would not see them," the Manhattan federal court suit says.
Kuchinsky, who is straight and Jewish, also alleges racial discrimination, saying that Curry hurled slurs at him including "f---ing Jew," "cracker," "white slave," "white devil" and "grandmaster of the KKK."
Bad locker room mojo

The Thunder are in far too good a position salary wise to blow their wad on a (milk) dud like Curry.

agreed... especially without a just enormous pay out in addition to Curry. Lee is solid, but not a franchise changer, IMO.

Lee is pretty good.. but not all that better than Wilcox or Collison. Most relevant he becomes an FA.
If you get to lose him-or overpay..then what's the point to swallowing Curry?
Curry is so substandard as a rebounder it cancels his scoring. Meanwhile there's no sign he even WANTS to play D.
CENSORED... No comment.
