2009 1st round pick from Cleveland
2009 1st round pick (via Denver) from OKC

Outgoing Players: Vince Carter

Cleveland Cavaliers

Vince Carter
Salary: $14,724,125 Years Remaining: 4
Earl Watson

Nick Collison
Salary: $6,350,000 Years Remaining: 3

Outgoing Players: Wally Szczerbiak, Eric Snow, Sasha Pavlovic

Oklahoma City Thunder

Wally Szczerbiak
Salary: $13,775,000 Years Remaining: 1
2009 2nd round pick (via Chicago) from Cavaliers

Cleveland: Takes-on Watson's contract for Denver's 1st round pick (sent to Jersey); Watson will be 3rd PG. Takes on Collison's contract for a 5th Big; sending-out Szczerbiak's expiring contract to OKC; trades both first rounders and expiring deals to Jersey for Vince Carter.

New Jersey: Trades-off Carter's contract, and picks-up young shooting guard, and 2 1st round draft picks, and Eric Snow's insured expiring contract.

OKC: Presti gets rid of 2 of the three contracts he is trying to unload, and picks-up Szczerbiak, who the team is familiar with, and will serve in a leadership role for the rest of the year.

Sasha Pavlovic does not meet our criteria for youth return in a Vince Carter trade. Sasha's not THAT young (25 1/2). His resume is about as impressive as Jerome James'; save a magical 2-week hot streak in a playoff series YEARS ago, they are both basically bench fodder.

I'm not sure about the protection on the OKC pick, but unless it's only top-6 protection or soemthing, there just isn't enough "meat" in this deal for Carter.

So Cleveland just gives up their garbage (2 expirings and an overrated, overpaid Sasha) and is able to lock up a solid back up pg, a great 2 guard to be lebron's side kick, and also gets a solid player to help out their thin front court? Right.

Nets and Seattle would never do this.

This is the best part, and by that I mean most entertaining... Szczerbiak went to Seattle as filler in the Ray Allen trade. Missed out on the Celtics' championship season. Then Presti dumps him half way through the season. Not that Szczerbiak wasn't delighted to leave, especially to Cleveland & the chance to play with LJames on a contender, because he was. He didn't like playing a lesser role, especially on the young, rebuilding Sonics. So now heath would have Szczerbiak leave another championship contender, the Cavs, and provide "leadership" to Durant's team. Back in that same lesser role. Perfect. Just thinking about this makes me laugh. Thanks.

Oklahoma gives up two useful players (neither have negative value) and have to give up a first all for the joy of Wally Szczerbiak? Really?

New Jersey gives up their star for crap when they have max space in 2010 already? Really?

Cleveland gets two solid role players and a star for crap? Really?
