Since when an actually worst team in the NBA had the #1 pick? iirc not recently. Having the worst record in the league gives you like 25% of obtaining the #1 pick, it's nice but not a guarantee though...

But obtaining either of Griffin, Harden, Thabeet, Holdiay, and etc would be nice though.

I'd be comfortable with being top 4 and going for a shot at the 1st. Outside of that and the % just aren't good enough. Anyone think this is the year the worst team actually gets the #1? I think it due to happen.

As for being worst I don't know. I wouldn't be surprised to see this team go on a 5 game winning streak if they make some kind of trade just because it might put life into the guys it opens up minutes for.

Hope

PG: Jackson (25) Brown (22) Udrih (1)
SG: Martin (35) Garcia (13)
SF: Garcia (20) Greene (28)
PF: Thompson (35) Sheldon (13)
C : Hawes (35) Sheldon (13)

I'd still like to know if Sheldon is worth keeping around or not. If he can just simply be a Pollard/Clark type player. Or perhaps Petrie knows that Sheldon can play, and is just telling Natt to not play him, so we can resign him for cheap.....(i hope)

^^ It's sad that we've given up on Shelden so quickly. I thought we traded for him to see if he was really a bust? He hasn't been given any kind of chance to prove otherwise (at least this season)...

I still think that Sheldon can be the Scott Pollard role for a championship team. I really want him to succeed in this league but he isn't getting any minutes. =/ But his offense is pretty much limited. His only legit offense he has is his mid range jumper. And that is average...

I'd like to see Sheldon more too. Championship teams always have a player that they can rely on to do one or two special things (like Pollard/Clark), like playing suffocating D for a couple of minutes, showing some hustle or grabbing important rebounds. If he can do that (and I've seen flashes that he can), then I think he's useful enough to keep around as a Pollard/Clark-type player that others have mentioned. His offense doesn't have to be good, we have other guys for that. I think Petrie has the team in a good position for the future and I wouldn't be surprised if Petrie had Sheldon in his plans for a long time.

Sheldon is not going to be a King next year unless he takes a paycut. It looks painfully obvious the Kings want to get rid of salary. We're at 69M for this season and we stink. Next seaon the only players that are even eligible to come off the books are Sheldon and Douby. We didn't pick up their options either so Sheldon is going to be on his way IMO.

I think Shelden will be a good pro but I agree right now we can't afford him and that is why he is not playing. I would like to keep the guy since we have no one to bang with the big lineups (which all playoff teams have). I think we will take our chances for a banger with our late first round pick on a SF or PF (like Hansborough or Sam Young) and use our early pick on a stud PG. We will probably trade Beno down the road also he is on a team that is not a good fit for him. He would be better where he doesn't have to be the star like BMiller does (which is good because JT is turning into a stud). He got killed last night because he had to go 1 on 3 last night and Denver's backup SF is the size of Shelden, but it helped JT go for 18/10. Hawes, JT, and Miller can play 30 minutes a night and still leave some minutes for Greene if Moore and KT sit on the bench.

We also need to decide on the coach and lock it down in good and bad who wants to run the princeton. I think we have a lot of positives going into next season. We have around $20 mil in expirings Shelden, Douby, Shareef, BJax, and Moore. And the $20mil the next year in Thomas and Miller so it is just this year that we have our hands tied. I am not too angry about it. Unless the Maloofs have to get rid of Miller or Salmons for financial relief I would keep them unless we could bring in Gordon or Villanueva or Millsap or Gooden. But if we can't get them I think Salmons would be great as a new BJax off the bench and Miller is a solid fit for his role passing for a couple years passing and shooting in our offense.

Salmons has shown that he can't come off the bench.

We won't ever have a shot at Gordon/Millsap/etc. unless we unload Miller/Salmons now.

Yes, we may have 20 mil in expirings this year, but we will only be a few million under the cap come summertime, meaning, it's good for nothing.

Keeping Miller past the deadline does nothing for the team whatsoever, and will likely only hurt our overall progress. Salmons, keeping him would be nice, but if we can get any kind of value, then he should probably be traded.

And up to what point, if any, will you say just f***k it all, we're tanking.

If this performance carries on until All-Star break? Until March? Until April? Or will you say never, and be like last year, and win games at the verrrry end.

Worst record guarantees a top FOUR as the top 3 slots could ultimately end up leapfrogging you.

GIVE US MILLSAP!!!

1st pick/Beno
Martin/Garcia
Greene/Hou pick
Millsap/Thompson
Hawes/Millsap

That such a good team in 2 years IMO, not to mention the drafts in the years to come. (we'll have a top 12 pick next year too I think)

BUT if Griffin is available we HAVE to take him and worry about a PG with our Hou pick.

You forgot that B-Jax comes off the books this summer as well. Between Sheldon, Douby and Jackson, the Kings will shed around $10M from this year's salary. There's also a potential for Moore to get cut since his contract is only partially guaranteed, which would shave another $3M.

What about Shareef's insurance? Do we get cap relief for this year right?

Only if the team applies for relief AND league appointed doctors sign off on the injury being career-ending. And that relief does not impact this year's salary...only next year's.
