i havent watched any bucks games so i cant give an opinion on how jefferson is doing this year. but honestly ive been impressed with yi. when the trade first went down i was like WHY??!?!?! but it turned out being pretty good for us. his only problem is being consistent. one night hell get 20 points 9 rebounds and 2 blocks but the next night go 0-12 with 7 turnovers and foul out. (thats an exaggeration of course, but you get what im saying)

I personally love Yi. He shows more aggresiveness than I originally thought he had. He just needs to grow more confident in himself. I partially blame that on our coach and also on the amount of pressure our fans and his home country puts on him, but I definitely want to see him succeed. It's a shame he broke his finger though because he started to show signs of consistancy. That's all I think we're asking for. If he could put up Nenad like numbers (14/8), I don't think that's asking too much. Obviously you want to see him improve every year which I think he will, but consistancy is the big word I use when I talk about what I expect from him.
As for RJ, I love the kid. I don't like saying too much bad things about the kid because he really did put his heart into our team for a long time. It was time for him to go though. He wasn't acting like the leader we needed him to be. He started caring more about himself and less about the team. He will tell you otherwise, but in his last year with us, he basically stopped playing his above average perimeter defense and really just cared about scoring when he touched the ball. It's a shame though, cause when he buys into the team concept (which I'm surprise he's not doing since Scotty Skiles is a great coach and motivator) he really is a fringe all-star. He's like night and day though when you notice he really is only on the floor to get his stats and that's it.

Get used to the missing crucial free throws thing, that has plagued him his whole career.
The last couple years his defense had went down the toilet as well and it is literally a result of his desire and effort given, nothing more, nothing less.
The same with his rebounding.
He also has decided to rely on his shaky jumper a lot more than when he had a crappy jumper.
He started thinking he was a 3 point shooter for a while.
I still hold a special place in my sports heart for RJ, but the signs were all there almost 2 seasons before we traded him.
He is on the decline and it has absolutley nothing to do with his physical condition, because he is in flatout prime shape.
It is his mentality. It has changed.
I think he has started to develop a sense of entitlement, stemming from his rise of role player, to cog in a contender to part of a league wide known, "Big 3".
He is still a hell of a player and better than his #'s, but it is truly a shame that he doesn't play up to his abilities anymore and doesn't buy in to the team concept the same way he used to.

If a train leaves the station in Kansas City at 3:30 PM PST going 68MPH and a train leaves the station in New York at 4:20 PM MST going 57 MPH and you are in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at 2:47 AM EST, how long will it take a Los Angelos police officer to consume 4 donuts and a large coffee?

Answer: As long as it takes for Romeo Crennel to put a Chinese Buffet out of business.

I like both of them, RJ is always going to be my favorite Net. However, letting my feelings out of my decisions I know we still made the right trade for Yi. I see so much potential on Yi. Everyone think he plays like Nowitski but I see him as a Chris Bosh type of player. His problem is He let his confidence control his game. You can tell when he plays. You can see when he plays inconfident he usually fades away inside or just shoot the outside shots. Yet, when you see him make a great play he becomes really aggressive. I see can see him being a really dominating player. All he really got to work on is to have more post moves and to get stronger.

I will always love what RJ did during the "glory" years, but Yi is def the real deal. Yes, his confidence is usually a big influence on his game night in and night out but the Nets can be much better with Yi. The second he goes down with an injury, the Nets look lost on offense. Having to starrt anderson instead of Yi is a big drop-off. Any 7 footer with 3 point range is a great asset, plus Yi is an above average rebounder even with his skinny frame. We need him back, and I wish him a speedy recovery.

Re: How do you guys feel about Yi so far?
im still not that impressed with Yi defensively and the fact he doesn't post up much even tho hes 7 feet tall, i mean look at dirk he can still post up and cause probelms on the block as well as step out.
his confidence is rising and hes playing better tho, stepping up as a 3rd scoring option really, but i need to see more toughness, rebounding, posting up, and better defense then you can call me a believer.

That is Frank's fault. Because of us having Lopez and his post up abilities and the fact Vince and Devin can get to the basket almost at will sometimes, Frank has him play the midrange-to-perimeter game for the kick out. Our offense is just a lot different than Dallas's. Remember the game that Vince got ejected? They finally started feeding Yi in the post and he played great that game (double double I believe...too lazy to look i up since I am at the office on a Saturday). Our offense just isn't designed for Yi to be close to the basket. Half the time he takes a shot inside 10 feet is because he flashed to the basket when a double comes on somebody else on the court.
I definitely think if Yi was the #1 scoring option on the floor like Dirk is, he'd get more touches close to the basket. I mean, he showed that Chair who was boss in pre-draft workouts. That's good enough for me!

I agree with you that his defense leaves something to be desired, especially help defense, but that could also be blamed on the team on not knowing when to switch or stick to their men. He has shown flashes when to pick up a man who just beat his defender from the perimeter. His post defense is about average.
Again, I'm still reserving my judgment on Yi. Yes, his confidence was growing before he was injured and yes it was six straight games, but again...it was six games. I hope the injury doesn't hurt his confidence or Frank doesn't bury him on the bench, though I don't know how he could do that.

Re: How do you guys feel about Yi so far?
by the looks of it, Yi is just a role-player in the Nets rotation. a great game from him is a plus. it's a Devin-VC show and the coach somehow has little or no plays for him and Brook. If they give him more touches, i guess it'll give him more confidence and afterward consistency.

Fellow Wisconsinite here.
I love how Charlie V has stepped up his game on the Bucks this year in Yi's absence. I hope they dont trade VC. IMO RJ still needs time to feel he belongs in Milwaukee. My fear is he is likely not committed to the brew city north of Chicago.
About Yi: the guy has so much potential but the biggest question for me is whether he will he ever play consistently with aggression and smarts. He is easily disheartened but I'm starting to think that he's learning very quickly. In Milwaukee he we never really developed a play for him. In New Jersey you can def see that Frank has gotten him into the mix with some simple plays. One that I REALLY like is that pick n roll near the top of the key where Yi sets a screen and flashes to the hoop and is rewarded a quick high pass for an easy two. First time I saw that play I was surprised to see how quick Yi's lateral was and how fast he got to the hoop. My guess is that there aren't many teams that can defend PNR plays where you have well executed passes to a big man who possess good quickness. Just wondering why Frank doesn't do more variations of this play to both his BIGs (Lopez and Yi)?

When the Bucks traded Yi...I was like ..what is Milwaukees thinking? I figure maybe they have Charlie V. and drafted Joe Alexander so they don't need Yi anymore.. plus I thought maybe they don't Yi cant be any good.. Also I was happy for Yi too.. fine, if Bucks don't want him, he'll play for Nets.. KiKi V..also thought Yi has talent and he told yi that if he ever get to be a GM again on a team that he will try to trade for Yi.. I guess he did.. Im happy Yi a Nets.. The Bucks Uniform is wack hehe...
Yi struggle at the begining of the season but Yi started to play well..before the injury yi stared to shoot better..rebound.. and was startng to score about 20 pionts a night.. Then the injury happen...Yi out.. hope yi back soon.. Nets are struggling badly.. Yi will be back and stronger and better now that he getto rest andsit back look from a far and thinks about his games...
