Truth
I still can't believe how this team has fully been destroyed so quickly, and the worse part is we have nothing to fall back on
No Draft picks, No Young Talent, Nothing
And It All Started with the KT trade ! Period.
F U Steve kerr for ruining this franchise

Re: Kerr = Poor Mans Version of Zeke
Not to come in and defender Kerr but the KT trade, or all other cost cutting trades that Kerr had pull since he got here, are by the order of Sarver. He didn't want KT's $8 million salary on the book, so Kerr tried everything to dump it. Unfortunately it had cost us 2 unprotected first. I'm not sure why Kerr have to throw in 2 first round picks, did he even try to protect that 2010 first rounder? I don't know. But Sarver ok'ed the deal. Hope he's happy with the $$$ he saved.
As far as Zeke go...at least he knows how to draft.

Re: Kerr = Poor Mans Version of Zeke
Actually Kerr has put together a VERY talented team; the main mistakes he made (and they were VERY costly) was forcing D'Antoni out and hiring his buddy Terry Porter who was been awful so far.
The only positive thing I can say about Porter is he's a very nice guy; as a matter of fact, "he's the classiest guy in the NBA" according to Kerr.
- Where is the improved defense? Why did it take this moron (Porter) such a long time to figure out the team should run more with all the great athletes on the team? Where is the respect he was supposed to command?
D'Antoni is a brilliant coach and got replaced by a very average coach.
I will give credit to Kerr for this in regards to the coaching search; he took his time and interviewed some very good candidates like Mike Budenholzer (Pop's lead assistant), Elston Turner (Adelman's lead assistant), Tyrone Corbin (Utah Jazz assistant), Brian Shaw (Phil Jackson's assistant), but I'm angry that he never interviewed Saunders or Thibodeau.
Shaq said it best; if D'Antoni was given more time, this current team could win the whole thing. Can you imagine how good Richardson and Barnes would be in D'Antoni's up-tempo system?
It's disappointing that Kerr ran him out of town and replaced him with his buddy who has been a HUGE disappointment so far.
For this team to be the # 8 seed and only 6 games over .500 is really disappointing when you consider all the talent.
Why wasn't Alvin Gentry given the job over Porter? At this point, ANYBODY would be better than Porter.
And think about this; Joe Dumars hired Michael Curry instead of Porter even though Porter was the lead assistant with the Pistons last year. I think that says something.
Kerr has made some good moves, though.
- Signing Grant Hill
- The Shaq trade doesn't look so bad now considering how well he's played so far and the fact that Marion is only averaging 12 points per game this year.
- Signing Amundson and Barnes were good moves
But he has made some horrible mistakes.
- Dragic and Lopez have been disappointments so far. (Although I think they will be good in the future)
- Hiring Porter
- Forcing D'Antoni out
How many more embarrassing losses will it take for him to realize Porter is awful?
If only Hill didn't get hurt and Duncan didn't hit that 3 pointer...D'Antoni might still be coaching the Suns.
And for those who disagree with the Shaq trade and criticize Kerr for it...D'Antoni deserves the blame for that trade because he's the one who pushed for it.
Sarver said Kerr was very reluctant to make the trade and D'Antoni is the one who really pushed for it and D'Antoni has never denied that.

Re: Kerr = Poor Mans Version of Zeke
Kerr has not been great by all means, but a poor mans version of ZEKE? Are you kidding me? I am in no way defending him or sarver, but this orgnization has not taken bad contract after bad contract and trade and are paying over 100 mil to a team that is one of the worst. That is what zeke did. the suns most likely will make the playoffs and will stay under lux tax.
Yes, some bad moves on draft nights by giving away picks and players. But the biggest disapointment is that the picks he has used, they have not been good. The guy to me seems like a poor evaluator of talent.

Re: Kerr = Poor Mans Version of Zeke
I like Kerr.
I like most all of what he's done (the financial moves were not his call)... most notibly the Shaq for Marion trade. Shaq is every bit a component of a championship caliber team. The '07-'08 team with Marion was headed for big win numbers (yeah team! 60 wins again), but had little chance to win it all. It was a bold move that gave the Suns a chance, an opportunity, but they couldn't put it all together.
Major...MAJOR! Faux pax! Hiring Porter! Bad call...really bad call.
This is a veteran, very BBall savy roster. Porter's gravitas, or lack therof is a major reason this talent rich team is at best treading water.
Stevie ...you blew it. But there is still time to right this ship and it starts with dismissing Terry Porter as head coach.
let us pray

Mike would have still been here had he not been so stubborn and proud. Kerr put pressure on him but it was the right thing to do because he wasn't going to win it all without some minor changes.
He wouldn't play the bench and he was running Nash into the ground, he played Hill too many minutes too which may have been one reason why he was hurt in the playoffs.

No, Kerr isn't a poor mans version of Zeke. Kerr + Sarver are just the worst front office combo.

Re: Kerr = Poor Mans Version of Zeke
Well, No matter what Kerr has destroyed this team ..and fans were dumb to buy into the Dantoni does play D ect hype. Dude took a garbage team and made it a contender..
Mike made Nash and amare and shawn ect..PHX was a horry cheap shot away from the finals..
But he has bought your franchise down to it's knees..
btw there is no one better than amare you can trade amare for...name a better center than shaq you can trade shaq for...
Nash, Rich..you ma be able to get better in those positions and banes ( the 3 )..chi and indy would be the best trade partners and the raps as far as nash is concerned

BUT! Shaq's insistence on being The Man has caused this to become Shaq's Team, which in turn has PO'ed and marginalized A'm'a'r'e', which I feel is directly responsible for his sulking and poor play. Just my opinion, and it's debatable but I stand by it.
I didn't believe Shaq immediately after the trade, when he kept talking about not needing shots, focusing on defense and rebounding, and pumping up Amare. And a year later, sure enough, Shaq's main topics of discussion this year have been:
1) "I can't be Shaq with so few touches."
2) "We (meaning Amare, not me) need to play better defense."
No more talk about how great Amare is, or how it's Amare's team, or how Shaq will turn Amare into the greatest PF of all time. Nope, just the typical Shaq stuff we expected.
And I don't blame Shaq for this. This far into his career, we know who Shaq is. He's not going to pull an about-face in terms of personality all of a sudden. The fault lies with Kerr/Sarver/D'Antoni for not realizing that this would happen, and also with Porter for facilitating it by quickly and willingly turning the reins over to Shaq. I do feel like D'Antoni would've done a much better job of featuring Amare while keeping Shaq happy. After all, Amare did go off like a juggernaut after the Shaq trade. Mike D seemed to know how to use those 2 together, and Porter... not so much.
