Royal Rumble predictions

Post#1 » by skbucks1985 » Thu Jan 22, 2009 8:21 pm

IMO the most exciting PPV of the year is only 3 days away, so what does everyone think will happen?

Beth Phoenix vs Melina-The match that I don't think anyone cares about. I'm guessing Rosa Mendes costs Phoenix the match.
Winner: Melina

Jack Swagger vs Matt Hardy-I don't know how this match will turn out. This is probably going to be a long-term feud culminating at Wrestlemania, I'm guessing Hardy wins to continue the feud.
Winner: Matt Hardy

John Cena vs JBL-I think I know how this match will turn out. I don't expect to see HBK turn on JBL this match, but I think he'll cost him the match somehow by either his intereference backfiring or not interefering at all. But Cena's not losing this match.
Winner: John Cena

Edge vs Jeff Hardy-Another match where I'm pretty certain of the result. An Edge-HHH feud seems inevitable, and it seems pretty likely that all of this stuff happening to Jeff isn't at the hands of Edge and in fact is probably be the returning Christian. Either way, Jeff's winning this match.
Winner: Jeff Hardy

Royal Rumble: I think I've got it basically narrowed down to 3 people. I'd love to see a mid-carder like Kingston, or Kendrick win this match but I'm pretty sure the WWE doesn't agree with me. I think the long shot pick is Jericho. He hasn't had anything solid since he lost the title to Cena and while I don't think the WWE will have a Jericho/Cena main event 3 times in the last 5 PPV's, its still IMO a possibility. If Christian does in fact return at the Rumble like some are predicting, I could definitely see him winning. Although if he is Jeff Hardy's attacker they don't necessarily need the rumble to set that match up. Plus, the royal rumble winner is supposed to headline Wrestlemania and I don't think the WWE wants a Smackdown match headlining the show. That leads me to the man I think will win, Randy Orton. He's been really impressive lately and with his punt of McMahon he's on his way to becoming a monster heel.

Beth Phoenix vs Melina- I dunno about anyone else but im pretty much over Diva wrestling. Well. . .unless it includes Mickey James. ..
Winner: Melina

Jack Swagger vs Matt Hardy- I got Jack in this one, I think he is gonna continue to win for awhile to, you know. Before the WWE buries him.
Winner: Swagger
John Cena vs JBL- Cena is definitely headling Wrestlemania, with out a doubt, and I am sure JBL will have a show down with HBK at WM, so . . .
Winner: John Cena

Edge vs Jeff Hardy- I would like to see Jeff lose, I dont like him in this spot. . . I dont buy him as championship material. Doesnt have the swagger to carry it. But he will most likely win, I hope he loses it soon though. At WM maybe.
Winner: Jeff Hardy

Royal Rumble: The guy I want to win is Kennedy. Maybe MVP or Shelton. But I am also going with Orton. Which, as much as i like the guy, is BLAH. Another predictable WM main event. Cena Orton. Come on. . . But since I dont even know if MVP or Kennedy are even in the Rumble. . .I will go with Orton, give me Cody Rhodes or Ted Dibiase in a upset, to cause trouble in paradise, though i think its alittle too early to mess with the Legacy group. Maybe next year.

My picks.

I also really hope that the Big Show-Taker brawl isn't a pre-cursor to another feud between these two and a WM match between them. I'd love to see the mini Taker-Benjamin feud continue into a WM match, although I think Shelton will probably be in the Money In The Bank match.

As far as my predictions, I was right on most of the matches but when I was wrong I was really wrong. In addition to getting the pick wrong, clearly there's no long term Swagger-Hardy feud. But the Edge-Hardy match I was WAY off. When Matt came out, I knew what was about to happen. I guess Christian won't be coming back until after WM.

but you can't say it's not a good match ... every match these 2 had it's been very good.

but i think they'll be a shocker in this ... like shane hits cena with a chair, orton wins, and then shane becomes the new leader of the legacy.

i wonder how they'll fit christian in now ... does he go to raw or smackdown?? is he a face or a heel??
will we see a christian and jeff vs matt and edge in the future??

I'm guessing Christian won't be back until after WM. It seems quite likely that we see a HHH-Edge feud that'll culminate at WM.

I mean yeah, they put of good matches, but what about a change? Giving someone else a shot at main event status. The reason the WWE isnt anywhere near the attitude era is because they dont have more than a handful of main event status guys. And they refuse to build up any more. Anyways, I hope you are right about a shake up.

well jack swagger will eventually be a main eventer and i'm sure morrison/miz will breakup as how john morrison has main event status written all over him.

i think matt hardy could be a main eventer since unlike jeff, he has inring skills and not just flying off the ropes. ted dibiase is a future main eventer as well. you have mr. kennedy who would've been a champion already but he always gets hurt when he gets his push and christian will be returning.

but those guys are 'if's ... the only homerun main event status guys they have who'll be here 5 years from now is john cena, edge, and randy orton ... 2 of those are major heels, so yes they need to either develop or push guys into those main event status.

but hey be happy, the wwe has been going more attitude era like with the orton/mcmahon and matt/jeff storyline.

I am happier with the WWE than say, the last couple years. I know Kennedy gets hurt too much, but i hope they push him again. He is one of the few wrestlers they have that can come across as both a face and a heel.

I dont think either of the Hardy's have the swagger to be a main eventer. Kennedy does, MVP does, and I agree Morrison definitely does. I will admit to being guilty of not catching ECW, mainly because im not around for it. So i have no idea what Jack Swagger is like weak to weak.

I am banking on the WWE to give Kennedy, MVP or Christian a push at main event status, you need the whole package, sadly in ring skills dont get it done alone. So the guys like CM Punk, The Hardy's, Shelton, etc. etc. dont really cut it, unless they are really over hauled.

But it does certainly seem like they are content with what they have. It would be nice if the combined the brands. Then we wouldnt have the problem.

Combining the brands would get me back into wrestling. Combine the titles too; they mean nothing to me if there's two top titles.
