Matt Barnes Sounds Off on Playing Time

Post#1 » by The Diesel » Sat Jan 24, 2009 4:46 am

Hey guys,

Here is what Barnes said after the blowout loss to the Bobcats. He's complaining that he and Barbosa aren't getting enough playing time.

Me and LB can maybe get a little more playing time," Barnes said. "We're playing about 15 minutes a game and that's not helping the team at all. We're better than that. We know we can help this team. Playing 13, and LB played 19, we're not allowed to help the team.

"We don't get no rhythm out there. We don't get (stuff) done. It's frustrating. We're a lot better than our record. We're struggling in all areas. When it rains, it pours.

I agree with him.

And this is yet ANOTHER player who has publicly complained about the way Porter is running the team in addition to Nash, Amare, and Bell.

Hey Kerr, I thought Porter was going to command the respect of the team!

FIRE PORTER!

Barnes was great for us early on, and his lack of playing time might be hurting his performance. I agree with him. FIRE PORTER no doubt!

It's sad that Kerr took such a long time to hire a Head Coach and hired a moron who is arguably the worst coach in the NBA.

I knew all along Porter wouldn't command respect and this team needed a more established coach like Flip Saunders.

I agree with those who have said that Porter would be a good coach for a younger team, but he's the wrong coach for THIS team at this moment.

It's clear they have ZERO respect for him.

Kerr and Porter lied to Suns fans about what he would bring to the team.

- Improved defense? Hasn't happened.

- Keep the up-tempo offense? Hasn't happened.

- Command respect? Several players have complained.

Flip has a lot more experience and has had A LOT more success as a Head-Coach than Porter and he never even got interviewed. Yet ANOTHER mistake by Kerr.

Kerr has ruined this team.

^ I mean you almost feel betrayed and cheated at this point. It's a bad time and a bad feeling to be a PHX fan right now. I feel lied to and betrayed.

Wow....so first Nash voiced his 'opinion' of what this team is made up for. Then Raja, whom got shipped out because he's been vocal about the style Porter installed as well. Boris complained on his way out. Amare pouted and sulked. Even Gordan Dragic complained about not getting enough time. Then we got Shaq implying MikeD is better than Porter in front of the media the day before. And now Barnes is not happy with his PT. When's the last time we heard any form of praise for Mr. Porter? Who's happy with this guy as our head coach?

Oh yea, his mate Mr. Kerr. Last time I heard he said Porter is doing a great job.

The players shouldn't quit for any reason. There's never a good reason to quit like that, but I'd be frustrated to play under a coach who doesn't know how to coach. Kerr needs to do something quickly, rather dump the roster or dump the coach, because this team is sinking fast. Getting a good deal for Nash, Amare and Shaq will be difficult at this time of the season, so the easiest way should be dumping the dumb coach. Get Flip here, or have Gentry to take over as an interim coach. Fix our problem short term and make our final run this season and next. Even if we don't make it far this season, we have to leave hopes for these veterans to come in next year and compete.

Fire Porter NOW!!!!

Porter is a joke. I agree. He needs to go NOW!

If Kerr TRULY believes "Terry is doing a great job," Sarver must fire Kerr as well.

If the season ended today, the Suns would miss the playoffs. Inexcusable for a team with this much talent.

Fire Porter and hire Saunders RIGHT NOW!

^is flip available? I'd be interested in what he can do with this squad. It'll be tough to do it mid season though, but anything is better than what we have right now.

I also remember reading that management pretty much told the players to shut up and stop complaining in the media, yet a few days later Dragic complained and now Barnes is complaining.

Porter is CLEARLY the problem.

I mean, wasn't he also supposed to develop the younger players like Dragic and Lopez? They never get any playing time and Porter criticized Lopez last week.

So much for Porter commanding respect, improving the defense, developing younger players, and keeping the up-tempo offense which was the best offense in the league for several years under D'Antoni.

Kerr, you are a moron.

I feel bad for Grant Hill, Nash, Amare, etc. who deserve better than this. Especially Hill and Nash who are two of the classiest guys in the NBA who are future Hall of Famers playing for a pathetic coach.

Hopefully Porter improves and proves me wrong.

Kerr is obviously an egomaniac... I have yet to see him own up to his lies and mistakes.

I don't like to see guys speaking out like this -- it only serves to further the boat, particularly at a time like this

But Barnes is right. He's had a good season, he's been effective for the Suns, they have had success when he's played. So he should be playing more.
When I breeze past, breathe fast, on point like Steve Nash
