Deal involving Ray Allen and Stoudemire

Post#1 » by Octolor » Sat Jan 24, 2009 12:20 am

Would you trade Ray Allen for Amare Stoudemire?

This works with the cap.

It would give the Celts a young nucleus ( with Rondo) to prolong the dynasty and lengthen Garnett's career.

We would probably have to inlude Perkins and receive a shooting guard in the deal.

I would do it in a heartbeat.

Ray n Perk for Amare n Barbosa..
It would have to be the offseason and I don't think there's a chance in hell they do that deal, are they that cheap/dumb?

Boy, when I see Scal outplay a guy, I'm not sure I want to trade an all-star and future hall of famer for him. I think we can do better.

I know Amare's been **** lately, but there's still no chance they would even think about doing this.

I watched Amare. He is losing his youth and motivation. Phoenix would be smart to trade him while his trade value is high. I don't know if I should give up Ray Allen for him. Amare is what you are looking at Perk. Ray would have left a void wide open. Phoenix wouldn't give up more than Amare.

Selfish stat padders don't fit in with the Celtics mojo. This guy has all the tools to be a great defender, but he's terrible on that end. Why? He's lacking in the ticker department.

These Ray Allen trades are all so foolish... does no one understand the importance of floor spacing on offense?

Have you ever seen Amare .... or Scal for that matter ... go into Orlando on the second night of a back to back and just contain Dwight Howard? Well I just saw Perkins do that and he has been doing that for 3 years. Scal had a great night on Amare the other day but can he do it consistently? What happens when Amare figures out what he is doing?

Anyway, the trade is nonsensical. Nobody trades the best young offensive big man in the game for a guy on his last legs or for a salary dump.

EDIT: Actually, nobody but Chris Wallace would.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

We are not a suitable trading partner for Pheonix, we have nothing they want. Pre-KG, we might have been, since Al Jefferson would have been better suited for their half court game, but that's not important.

Amare also doesn't fit with this team. Maybe he would in a few years when he and Rondo's running the team and on the fast break, but for now he's not an ideal half court player. He's also not that young, he's 26 and I see him as the kind of play that's going to fade away in his early 30's.

This thread should be labeled better. Its a frickin trade idea.

Even though I love Ray and Perk I'd definitely trade them for Amare. But it makes no sense for Phoenix to do such a deal. They aren't rebuilding with the trade or pushing their team over the top.

I frankly wouldn't even trade Perk for Amare straight up. That because defense is more important in the game of basketball and Perk's defense is to Amare's defense what Amare's offense is to Perk's offense. If you catch my drift. Never mind including Ray.

Frankly, the Suns wouldn't do this either, for obvious reasons.

Ok, I know Celts fans may have a reputation of being homers (what team isn't?), but seriously, that's ridiculous. You wouldn't trade Kendrick Perkins for Amare?!? I love Perk, he's one of my favorite Celtics, but to deny trading PERK for AMARE is crazy. Green 18 would be much easier with Amare next to KG.

Amare isn't exactly chop liver on defense. Plus his offense is much much better then Perks. No offense to Perk I love him and his great D, but the guy looks offensively (Please Use More Appropriate Word) sometimes.

^Yes, Amare IS chop liver on defense. He just doesn't play it or doesn't want to.

To trade Perk AND Ray for Amare would be Blasphemy! What would happen to our frontcourt defense without Perk? It would be terrible and no way we could continue a dynasty with terrible front court defense.

Just because he's been on a running team doesn't mean he can't play defense. He had to play along side small forwards playing out of position at power forward and now he's playing with Shaq who can't make it to the other side of the floor in time on defense.

STAT hasn't been known for he defense no matter what the situation. He's just lazy and only cares about his "STATs". Check out the Suns board and see how lazy the people that watch his every game thinks he is.
