Ya, he really is and if it's homeristic to value a Great defender like Perk over a Great stat padder like Amare than so be it. Sometimes "common opinion" is just another name for idiotic thinking. Amare doesn't have the right mentality to succeed in team ego supercedes individual ego environment and really he's a Power Forward who doesn't possess the physical ability to defend the types of guys that Perkins routinely handles well on the defensive end.

In terms of importance Defense >> Offense from the Center position for the Celtics. And in that respect Perk is much, much more valuable to the team.

Not many good trade fits for Amare. Maybe Phoenix has contacted Detroit and is trying to get Tayshaun Prince and Sheed. Phoenix needs to improve their d..

I'm against it but hypothetically it could work with Amare/KG/Pierce.

Remember, if we were getting the 1st or 2nd draft pick - Doc Rivers repeatedly said how he wanted the team to deal it for KG. He is quoted thrice about how phenomenal KG/Big Al/Pierce would be.

We just happened to luck out with the greatest shooter, who complements KG and Pierce so well. It's such a good fit. Unlike Houston's big 3. But one wonders if Doc would be against a KG/Amare pairing with Pierce provided we get an above average player at the 2 - just based on those comments about Big Al and KG.

Would Amare/KG as the frontline.

Work with Pierce/Ray Allen as supporters?

That's a big 4.. but we have no one to guard Centers on that team. And KG is valued for his defense in the half court. Amare is valued SOLEY for his offense. Ray Allen is the same as Amare. And Pierce's greatest value is ISO/foul drawing half court offense...

I guess run n' gun would work? There is only 1 ball to play with.

I honestly don't know if the Celtics could win with Amare/KG/Pierce/Ray Allen on the team. Our backup would be Baby or Scal at Center... KG doesn't like to play Center and his game suffers greately if he has to push around guys 30 pounds heavier then him in the post.

Ughh. Bad trade for the Celtics.

This would leave Cektics short and elite wing player and also take away touches from kg. KG and amare play the same position.

It is a bad fit with our roster, and why on earth would we trade ray allen? We should mortgage everything we have for another championship.

Let;s be clear. We are in a win now mode, future be damned.

This has to be locked. I mean, come on. Do people who think of these trades watch the NBA? Is this a 7 year old who posted this? Why has it received 2 pages of responses, some of which seriously analyze Amare's game? The only reason this thread should be open is to blast the person who had the guts to post it.

Why would the Suns trade their best young player (and one of the best big men in the league) for a 32 year old shooting guard who is on the decline? Yeah, Amare sucks on D. But he is also one of the game's best scorers. Under this logic, it should be pretty easy to turn Perk and Rondo over for Chris Paul, right?

I love Amare but if Amare and Shaq can't make the playoffs how are KG and Amare going to win a title? Perk does the heavy lifting and compliments KG about as well you can.

what an unbelievably stupid trade proposal, it doesn't make sense for EITHER team.

i have no choice but to question the OP knowledge of the game as well anyone who thinks it would be a good idea for the celts.

with amare instead ray allen, i could just about guarantee the Cs would not be able to beat cleveland in the playoffs. there be NO ONE to space the floor (rondo can't shoot, remember? )

you want to trade a guy coming off a championship, who is having his most efficient season in years, for a guy having his worst ? who doesn't like playing defense ? (Cs calling card) and who would pretty much kill the offense with his whining, selfishness, and inability to create good spacing on the floor ? if he can't play with shaq what makes you think he can with KG ?

the current big 3 fit together perfectly, why would you want to ruin it ?

I think PHX is considering to trade Amare within the next two years, but they will use him to help them in the short term with a defensive veteran (Haslem-like) and significant rebuilding pieces. We can't satisfy those desires.

PS: I never liked Amare's personality.
