Follow Portland's Rebuilding Blueprint - Pile up Draft Picks

The past two years the Suns have seemed disinterested. I do think this team has the talent to make a run but only if things are clicking. I would start thinking about rebuilding. Two moves that I would explore would be moving Nash to NY and STAT to Philly.

Nash and Barbosa to NY from PHX
Marbury and two first round draft picks (I would probably do it for 1 first and couple of seconds, as well)

This is a must do. Diantoni would love to get both Nash and Barbosa back. Plus since Nash’s contract is up in two years I think they would be very willing to have Nash make them competitive until they go after a big free agent in 2 summers. Yes we get Marbury who has already been here once and who hasn’t played all year but I think he is more of a Porter type player. I think he would be able to fit in for the rest of this year. The plus on Marbury is his huge contract that is up this year. You take 20 mil of the books.

STAT to PHL
Brand and a 1st rd pick to PHX

THis trade is not necessary but I think this would help because we could get a 1st rounder. Philly isn’t thinking too highly about the Brand signing and since Brand went out of the lineup they have played better basketball. STAT fits the style of play that the sixers want to play. I really think they might bite. I do think that Brand is more of a Porter guy. Yes, he is a risk and his contract is big, but it is smaller than STAT’s.

The team would be competitive with Marbury, Richardson, Hill, Brand, Shaq the rest of the year.
It would give the Suns at least 2 first round picks which could give them 3 for this draft. With 8 players (Shaq, Richardson, Brand(or STAT), Dragic, Lopez, Dudley, Tucker, Aumundson) signed for next year for 43 mil than they could probably sign the whole team for 50 mil. They would be young and with Shaq coming off the books the following year they may be a factor in the free agent market. What do you think?

Eh as long as Sarver's here, picks are worthless. He'll sell each first rounder for 3 mill, so you're basically trading Nash/Barbo/Amare for 9 million dollars.

HELL FRICKING NO. We want NOTHING to do with Brand's contract and injury prone-ness. We also want NOTHING to do with Marbury. I'd rather we get Aldrige or Okafor, and we can get a MUCH better deal for Nash in a 3-Way involving Chicago/Hinrich.

I said it but I'll say it again. Trading Nash would be a HUGE mistake unless our plan is to enter tankapalooza. I'd rather trade ANYONE else on the roster before Nash.
