Former Hawks swingman Josh Childress had sports hernia surgery Tuesday in Philadelphia and will be out for six to eight weeks, according to his agent Jim Tanner.
Childress left the Hawks over the summer for a three-year contract with Olympiacos, a Greek team that competes in the Euroleague, spurning a contract offer from the Hawks.
Childress helped Olympiacos to an 18-5 record so far this season while playing 23 minutes per game.

Ex-Hawk sixth man Josh Childress will try to return to play for Olympiakos in Greece after recovering from a sports hernia, but he's probably back in the NBA next season. The Hawks retain his rights and will be able to match anyone's offer.
