Need Some Advice on T-Mac

Post#1 » by Rosco4 » Mon Jan 26, 2009 5:38 pm

got offered a fantasy trade Peja for T-Mac... Peja has been unbelievable as of lately but clearly T-Mac is an overall better player. Being that I don't have the chance to watch the Rockets too much, as Rockets fans is T-Mac now ready to stay healthy for the stretch run towards grabbing a good playoff spot? or should i stay away from T-Mac and his injuries? thanks for the help, i appreciate it

depend what your fantasy team need
if you need 3PTM then stick with Peja
if you need more REB, AST go with T-Mac
the only drawback is his health

I wouldn't for Peja as the only thing Peja is giving you is 3PTM. If you needed 3PTM that badly there is probably someone you can pick up off waivers for nothing rather than giving up T-Mac as he just came back into the lineup.

As general advice, if you have deficiencies the 3PTM/blocks/steals categories, it is more often than not better to pick up role players off of the waiver than try to trade for big-name players to fill these categories. For example Battier was injured to start the season and probably went undrafted and may still be available off waivers and would shore up all 3 of these categories nicely.

T-Mac is a sheet stuffer when he's healthy with pts/rbs/asst, though with a low FG%. His health is obviously his drawback so if you really want to shell out T-Mac I would do it for other similar "sheet stuffers" who may have lower overall stats but does not have the injury concerns. Also if you want to trade T-Mac I highly suggest you do so after he has a couple good games and try to trade him while his value is high.
