Final Roster Offense

Post#1 » by eagle13 » Thu Aug 9, 2007 2:49 pm

Its way too early but since Luke did D - here's the O

3 ST - K,P,LS
25/26 on O
25/24 on D

QB - Brett, Rodgers, Martin
HB - Jackson, Morency, Herron
FB - Miree, Hall
FL - Driver, Jones
SE - Jennings, Martin, Clowney (or Bodiford)
TE - Lee, Franks, Alcorn
OT - Clifton, Tausher, Moll(G), Thompson
OG - Colledge, Spitz(C), Barbre, Palmer
C - Wells

IF we carry 26 on O then add maybe WR Carlyle or TE. Eventually Koren Robinson will take a spot - especially if Clowney or Bodiford aren't impressing.

Actually figure we will pick up a couple guys near end of preseason like we did last year with Bush Palmer and Peprah.
Figure we find a TE, maybe HB, FB.

DeShawn Wynn has been coming on I've read. But Jackson and Morency are locks. I think experience might keep Herron around, unless they think Wynn could be a stud someday. Herron has been looking good as well I've been hearing.

I think Carlyle Holiday might earn a spot. He finished well last season and reports are saying he's catching everything thrown his way in practice. If it carries over into the exhibition games, he'll probably make it.

What will be interesting is who gets the KR/PR job(s). I think Clowney or Bodiford need to perform in that area to stick around. Koren Robinson will be back midway if all goes right. Alot of decisions... However it will probably play itself out over the upcoming weeks.

I expect Wynn will stick due to someone getting hurt - but if not then he'll be a PS guy like TE Harris and perhaps HB-FB White

I don't see them keeping two fullbacks around. I don't think one of either Palmer or Thompson makes it. I think Wynn makes it.

I don't see 2 FBs, and can't see both Thompson and Palmer making it either.
Thompson over Martin @QB

Otherwise agree with the rest.

I think Clowney is a PS player.

The Pack has always carried 2 FBs but if Wynn or White make the team as HB - maybe you guys are right as they could play FB in a pinch. But I say Hall makes it. Maybe Wynn > Herron.

Pack has often kept 9 OL and did so at start of last season after signing Palmer - although last year TT cut to 8 (cut C White) right after season started - so who knows?

Those last cuts are a tough call right now. I'd really like to see Wynn impress enough to make the team and maybe even contribute.

He's one guy to really watch in preseason. That would probably be a perfect place for him, could gain a little muscle. He will have to get past waivers for us to put him on the PS. I would like to see him show something and make it because he is the only one with true homerun speed.

Beach was the best RB in camp last year before he was hurt. I was surprised they didn't even give him a chance to come to camp this year.

I could see two FB making the team if Hall proves to be a great special teams player, but they don't think he's ready yet to play alot at FB.

MJS mentioned last week that Corey Dillon was still sitting around. The unnamed Packer official then said that Corey's speed was shot....but then said that "he can still run the football"

Has he been picked up yet? I sure as heck would bring the guy in. I think our RB situation is brutal right now.

I am pretty sure he is still a member of the Patriots. When they said sitting around, they meant NE was willing to trade him for the right deal.

Totally agree! Don't know anything about him but because of his speed Clowneys my greatest hope to be a surprise delight. So far - nothing special but its early. I'd be happy if he proved to be great KR and be developed as WR starting as 5th or 6th WR. He won't return punts. Bodiford is more versatile but not as fast and smaller. I really hope one of these guys lights it up as at least a return man if not also WR.

A week or so ago I read that Clowney wasn't as explosive as advertised. Obviously he was maybe just wore down a bit from camp. Hope its not another situation like that Rodgers (I think that was his name) they drafted in the 4th or 5th round to return kicks, but failed miserably.

I have no idea if Clowney makes the team, but during the scrimmage,he looked painfully skinny.Send that guy on a crossing route and he could end up in the backfield after getting hit.

I think the possibility of keeping 6 WR's is high, but I still don't even know if Clowney makes that cut.

Locks: Driver, Jennings, Jones
Last spots: Martin, Ferguson, Bodiford, Holliday, Clowney

I think Martin is as near a lock as it gets given his size, so that leaves 2 spots open between the other 4. Clowney has been garbage in camp.

The fact is you only have two for sure -Driver and Jennings. Jones will be kept because of where he was picked and he will be a good special team guy. martin is probably a lock. After that it is wde open PERIOD!
