I wish the weather had been better for tonights game so people would not construe the lack of attendance as an indictment of the Hollins hiring.

I doubt the Grizz pull this one out either. They have a new coach and are going up against a T'ed off Nuggets team.

When will my favorite player, Dark Milicic, play? :D

RE: Darko - what I heard during their last broadcast is that he wants to come back this week but he may be another week away according to team officials.

It could be the case. I don't expect a win tonight despite the Nuggets will be w/o Melo. Hopefully Hollins will have this team show more effort on the floor tonight than they had in recent weeks.

The Grizz lose their first game under Hollins in his debut. For three quarters they managed to keep up with the Nuggets. They even showed some sense of aggressiveness under the direction of Hollins at times. But the fourth quarter rear it's ugly head and the Grizz conked out at the end losing by the score of 100-85.

Memphis is a small market for the NBA. Players like J-Will, Battier, Gasol, and someways Lorenzen Wright(hometown player) were the reasons why FEF crowds used to cheer pretty loud. Now these days been all kinds of depression. The crowds at FEF act like they are in the library than being at the game. Mainly the reasons why this team hasn't been marketable has been due to not having a star attraction that people in the city could go to games and watch him play. This team now has that upcoming star in OJ Mayo. The Grizz have to build a team around him to make this team not only better as a whole, but get the crowds something to cheer about again.

Avery Johnson simply turned out the 5yr long term offer to coach the squad. This particular Grizz team is more fitted to a run and gun than to a half court style like AJ would probably have them set in if he was the coach. Jeff Van Gundy is the enemy of Memphis. The guy does not stop berating the team for their unnsuccess and how worse they really are. Flip Saunders simply wouldn't work for me. He's more offensive minded and doesn't coach enough defense.

The franchise is in a transition period. The owner has decided to build slowly via the draft and add the missing pieces when becoming a playoff team is more of a reality. Our owner has lost an obscene amount of money with varying degrees of success (no playoff victories). His three year plan is not suited for such a fickle market as Memphis especially when you have to compete againist the success of the Memphis Tigers for the all important entertainment dollar. While the three year plan may be good in theory he is more likely to lose many loyal fans who can not stomach this ineptitude and losing. You can not field a young team with no veterans playing a large role with quality minutes. Young guys have to learn from someone on how to play the game and be professional. They entered the season wanting Rudy Gay to be the leader when his entire career he has been pegged properly as not being an extrovert with questioned desire. Rudy is barely legal so is it any real surprise the immaturity he showed in dealing with his former coach?

Yes the organization has issues currently but they are all fixable and rather quickly so all is not lost.
Hollins contract runs concurrent with Iavaroni's so if he has success then he can be retained due to a extension provision in the deal, if not than the man pegged to lead the team to the next level will be hired to complete the owners three year vision. All is not lost and these rough patches were forecasted, so a plan is in place, even if I disagree with it. I am not the man who writes the checks or even kicks in a few pesos so it's just an opinion.
