Hey

Post#1 » by Triple M » Wed Jan 7, 2009 9:47 pm

I'm a Celtics fan but I follow you guys from time-to-time to see how the former celtics are doing. I've notice you guys have been playing much better have won
3 in a row
4-5 could of been a 5 game win streak if they could of hold on in Dal
and 5 of 7 even that Orl game was close in the 4th

You guys still have work to do but props nevertheless I hope they continue improving maybe next year you guys can realistically talk playoffs.

Thanks. All 5 wins have come against pretty poor teams, but never the less, it's significant improvement over losing to poor teams, which is what we were doing. I think our success is very much predicated on Randy Foye's play. We know what we are getting from Jefferson, but our perimeter play isn't as night-in-night-out consistent as Jefferson. Foye's play has been significantly better lately, which I think has a lot to do with our recent wins. MAYBE we can talk about the playoffs next year, but I'd bet we have a better shot the year after. Pekovic should come over then, so that gives us a 6'11" center. Not much for shot blocking, but we won't be so undersized anymore. Hopefully our perimeter play has matured enough between what we have and what we acquire by then to be consistent.

Pekovic said he is coming over in 2010, right?
Thriving on mediocrity since '89.

I think our recent play has a lot to do with the fact that it's January a.k.a. the best month in Timberwolves history ;)

oh and yeah, Foye is stepping up lately as well. nice to see it.

It is more offensive improvement and situational defense. We are setting good chemistry, but still have a bit to do.

I'm amazed by the attention that we seem to draw right now. on the general board are three topics about us and they are positive :D

we have a very hard stretch coming up now

and i really think we need to trade miller to a team that can help us

vs detriot
vs lakers
@ boston
@ indiana
vs atlanta
@ houston
vs Hornetts

we could very well go on a 7 game losing streak
teams supporting
NBA-Minnesota t-wolves
NHL-Toronto Mapleleafs
NFL-Miami Dolphins
MLB-???
Others:Wests Tigers,Leeds United,Schalke,VVV,Sydney Kings,Tatsuma Ito

The chances of Peckovic coming over seem to be diminishing every week.

What are the realistic chances of him coming over here next year?

What do you mean? Why are the chances of Pekovic coming over diminishing?

I believe next year was never an option. When we drafted him 2010 was said to be the earliest. If not 2010, then in 2011 I believe his contract expires.

Pekovic has two years remaining on his contract with a team in Greece, but McHale said he wants to play in the United States and that the Wolves expect to have him for the 2010-11 season.

Hence the 2nd rd pick, not the first. Because as a first he would be locked into a cap number (ala Tiago issue) and never come over. But as a 2nd rd pick we could front-load a contract allowing enough room for a 2.5 buyout (if you call it contract and not buyout it is ok) and then have him on any contract. I am excited to have him come over.

Even with that loop hole of a contract. He could get way more in Europe now than he could get in the US right?

Theoretically, I guess, but it's doubtful. There's a reason the top Euros come to the NBA and that's because the NBA generally pays better.

No, one thing for certain is that he has a mean streak and will finish very strong in the paint. We can doubt his rebounding and perhaps his defensive impact, but his aggression and attitude will be a huge fit.
