Would you guys do this trade?

Post#1 » by vivekmj10 » Wed Jan 28, 2009 11:40 pm

Hey, I'm a Raptors fan first but I'm also a big fan of the Suns and Blazers. Obviously the Suns aren't as exciting now but I do agree that this is the best way for them to play in order to win a championship. I was just wondering if you guys would consider this trade:

To Phoenix:

Lamarcus Aldridge
Travis Outlaw
Joel Przybilla

To Portland:

Amare Stoudemire
Robin Lopez
Matt Barnes

It's pretty clear that Amare will not be the dominant player he was while the offense flows through Shaq. Also, if this core remains till 2010, I would be extremely surprised if Amare elects to stay.

I think this is a good deal because the Suns get Aldridge who won't worry about touches and has the outside game to complement Shaq. He's a better defender than Amare and has heaps of potential. Having Outlaw and Barbosa of the bench should also be a lethal duo, while Przybilla seems like the perfect backup for Shaq.

Good luck the rest of the way Phoenix fans!

Many in this forum would like to do this trade. I still think Amare is the better player, but would be better next to Oden. LA would be a nice piece too. Prz would be a nice backup to shaq too.

I would say yes to this trade. However, I might want a guard that can backup nash, or can handle the ball as a bigger SG to help barbs out.

We'd like to see a point guard coming from your end...interesting offer to me if it was adjusted to include that.

SUNS are done with trades until Shaq's salary comes off the books.

Well if Steve Kerr ever got down to negotiating this deal I'm pretty sure he could figure out a way to get Kevin Pritchard to throw in Sergio Rodriguez, maybe for a second round pick.

Hell **** no. And that's coming from someone who's ALL FOR a deal involving STAT + LMA. There is no way in hell we give up Barnes and especially Lopez, unless we're getting Bayless back, which won't happen.

Something more like that works for all teams. Maybe a pick here and there from someone to someone. What do you think?

Jdab, Suns won't do that. I'm telling you man, we're not giving up our whole bench to dump Amar'e. Yeah, that deal works for all three teams (the one I proposed). Portland takes on some salary, but a lineup of Beno/Roy/Salmons/Stat/Oden is pretty much unstoppable. Beno is a more offensively potent version of Blake, and you'd have 3 playmakers on the floor at the same time with that lineup, plus an offensive jaggauernaut in STAT.

Suns win as well, because they get a nice YOUNG piece, a solid backup at C and PG, and can still contend.

Sacramento is regretting the Beno signing because he's not fit for them, so they dump him and Salmons who they want to get rid off for an expiring.

Its a win-win-win situation.

I would say that what the Suns would primarily looking for in a trade for amare would be a power forward with talent kind of comparable to amare, some good young role players, and maybe a 1st rounder.

Bayless instead of Outlaw and it's be a great trade. Hell Phoenix could get a draft pick out of it too.

But we're not just dumping Amare... We're also trying to get something in return. I also don't see why we shouldn't trade Barbosa considering that he's been our trade bait for awhile now anyway. However, I can see why you don't want to trade Barnes but I'm a firm believer of equal trade (they're giving us quality players why should we withhold ours?). And from what I proposed not only do the Suns get some quality bench players in exchange for our bench, we also get a future (we don't just get one young piece). I mean we're getting Bayless/Outlaw/Aldridge and we also solve the backup pointguard and bigman problem for Barbosa (not really starter material from what I see), Barnes (who might leave next year), and Amare (who a lot of Suns fans seem to want to get rid off anyway).

Also from what I've read, the reason why Sacramento isn't moving Salmons for Lafrentz at the moment was because they also wanted Bayless. So Sacramento might actually want something of value for Salmons and so they're not willing to dump him for just trash. And then you decided to get rid of Udrih... who's going to be Sacramento's point guard?? Bobby Jackson?? They could probably get a better deal for Salmons and Udrih.

In addition, I don't think we would want Portland to be THAT powerful.

Sac doesn't want **** for salmons, especially if they can dump Beno with him. This deal works for all teams.
