Keeper trade: Brand/Nelson for P. Gasol/B. Lopez/Conley/Rip?

Post#1 » by twistedude » Thu Jan 29, 2009 4:37 pm

14 team roto keeper, standard categories. We keep 3 players + 1 rookie at their draft round value.

I'm currently planning on keeping Butler/Rashard/Joe Johnson, but I've been looking to land a good rookie and haven't had any luck so far (my current rookie keeper is Bayless). Here's the trade that was proposed to me today (draft round value in brackets):

I give:

Brand (1)
Nelson (8)

I get:

Pau Gasol (2)
Brook Lopez (10)
Rip Hamilton (5)
Mike Conley (9)

What do you think? Should I go for this? Lopez @ 10th round value is huge value and it gives me a valuable rookie keeper, so I'm very tempted. Nelson/Brand is alot to give up though. Here's my team BEFORE the trade:

PG - Joe Johnson (Atl - PG,SG)
PG - Jameer Nelson (Orl - PG)
SG - Rasual Butler (NO - SG,SF)
SG - Louis Williams (Phi - PG,SG)
G - Sebastian Telfair (Min - PG)
SF - Caron Butler (Was - SG,SF)
SF - Rashard Lewis (Orl - SF,PF)
PF - Al Thornton (LAC - SF,PF)
PF - Elton Brand (Phi - PF,C)
F - Jamario Moon (Tor - SF)
C - Erick Dampier (Dal - C)
C - Samuel Dalembert (Phi - C)
Util - JaVale McGee (Was - PF,C)
BN - Tim Thomas (NY - SF,PF)
BN - Jordan Farmar (LAL - PG,SG)
BN - Jerryd Bayless (Por - PG)

Um....jump on this....

Conley has been playing great, Brand is not looking good and if he doesn't get traded from the 6ers I don't see him putting up his old type stats.

Gasol is really good and Rip will be Rip again someday.

Lopez is a ery good rook and will be an absolute beast in the future and keeping him 10th as a rook is awesome value.

You can easily drop Tim Thomas, he is a scrub and once the Italian Cock starts getting steady minutes and they trade for a 2 guard he will get small minutes.

And then even in a 14 team league you can always drop Farmar, McGee, Dally, Damp, R Butler, Thorton or Louis Williams.

You would have to be crazy to pass up this trade with some of the hot trash you currently have on your roster and the value you getin return.

Accept this before he comes to his senses.

Thanks for the responce VC4Prez. I made the deal with one slight amendment:

I got Marvin Williams instead of Rip Hamilton. I heard Rip tweaked his groin again, so I asked for Marvin instead and he accepted.

Any other feedback on the deal would be much appreciated 8-)

That's still a great deal, maybe even better.

Edit: BTW, who'd you wind up dropping?

Scrubby Tim Thomas and McGee. Won't be missing those two that's for sure!

P Gasol has more value long-term than Brand, who doesn't fit in Philly.

Nelson's just having a great year. B Lopez gives you more from the rookie keeper spot.

Also the 2 for 4 will help you win this season

Yep, definitely a great deal for you. Nice move of picking up Marvin over Rip.
