Thank you celtics gods, I never cared for Lucky anyway. Hopefully they wont replace him either. I believe RED would have wanted it this way, and this is him looking down on the organization. He was always flirting and touching on the hot girls at the garden too, that didn't give me any more respect for him, although i might have been just a little jealous. The coolest thing i ever saw lucky do was miss a dunk. hate the guy good riddance

WEEI reported that both parties agreed to part ways and it was speculated by the hosts that Lucky left for a disagreement with his bosses.

For me, I never understood the need of a mascot and dancers in professional sports other than to arouse or tantalize the male audience and those of the lesbian persuasion. In high school and at the collegiate level, a mascot and cheerleaders do serve a relevant purpose. Ditto for the home team bands. Their purpose is to excite and motivate the home fans to get behind the home team. On the other hand, I doubt their absence from the Celtics games would affect children and family attendance. Fans attend the games because they're Celtics fans unless they're bandwagoning attendees. Then only they would notice and miss the absence of Lucky or the dancers. However, the NBA is the business of entertainment now as oppose to being a sport first.

If ownership replaces the man who was Lucky now or for next season. I would suggest Mike Adams. I heard he flirts and goes ga-ga over the young and nubile females at Fenway. So, this gig would be up his alley.

Good, maybe now we can finally bring in a real mascot with a mask. Perhaps if we're lucky we'd even get a midget. I don't know if I'd trust Big Baby around him though. He'd want to dress him up and pretend he's a ventriloquist.

I agree with Youth4Glory, the persona they had him act out was atrocious.
If you're gonna have a mascot, do it different then all the other scrub teams. My idea is just have an old guy who's dressed up in the outfit, but is less fruity, like a superfan who gets the place pumped up; yells at the other team, their fans, refs etc. Like a real a-hole, maybe even have him doing shots of Jack at halftime

Heard on the radio too.

Glen Ordway gave the "Gino" Mascot suggestion.

This is weird. I was at the Mavs game and thought to myself. What if there were no lucky? And now a few days later he's gone...Hmm time to play the lottery.

I just hope they don't take our logo and turn that into our mascot. Big muppet looking Leprechaun. It would just be creepy, kinda like Pat the Patriot

So is this timing a coincidence or has Danny had this planned all along? A couple days after Scal mysteriously gets 2 concussions in 3 days....our mascot decides to leave. It seems like Danny will just have a team doctor say Scal can't risk playing anymore, then he comes off the books, then he gets to replace Damon Blust, the old Lucky. It also allows us to sign a big man or PG to fill Scal's roster spot. Seems like Danny has done it again. The perfect crime.

We met Lucky a few times when my son shot baskets at halftime for citizens bank at the Garden, Then was he saw us @ a Mohegan Sun Arena Pre Season game. He came up into the stands when he saw us. I thought that was cool of him then I lost respect for him when I noticed him drooling over my wife and kinda using his status to act snake like around other girls also at the stadium. A lot of these girls were with their families. I thought he was more into the girls than he should have been.
I would not be surprised if the Celtics started to get complaints in this area. I may be wrong but you never know.

Celtics need another mascot?

Maybe there is hope for Jiri Welsch after all. I could see Jiri running around in Lucky's costume at the games.

An online rumor is making the rounds that ownership had a closed meeting with Ainge and presented him with this: Cut Cassell or fire Lucky, we're wasting money on them. Ainge made his decision today and Lucky's shenanigans are no more. Further, from an undisclosed source, Ainge was given the ultimatum that either he removes one or the other from the payroll or be faced with the choice of being demoted to Rivers' coaching staff or replace Lucky and wear his outfit indefinitely. Given a few moments to ponder that order. Ainge decided that Lucky had to go.

Asked for comment, Celtic guard Sam Cassell said, "Man I don't know nothing. Don's ask me a thing. There's no way I would've worn that junk. Hey, people get fired everyday, man."

It wasn't reported that the man who plays the Lucky mascot was indeed fired. But, Cassell's comments were telling. I've a feeling more will come to light in the coming days.
